I recently bought a new snap on Mini Rechargeable Shop Light, 250 Lumens. Model # ECFHKY.

It's an awesome little light with a strong magnetic base. No more hollering at the person holding the flashlight. The light also pivots on the magnetic base and stays where u put it.

Battery life is most excellent too.

I'm going to buy a second one for home use.

They're awesome, I forgot one when I adjusted a semi truck clutch once, 12,000 miles later when I got under it again the light was still stuck to the bottom of the transmission. Charged it up and still using it today!

Mine came off snap on truck...cost around $70.00. I looked on Internet to see if I could find non snapon version. I did find generic unbranded one but no pricing.

How much does it cost?? Where did you purchase it? Reason for a song is I bought the one bigger one that plugs in at Costco..

I've looked at those at Costco and they seem decent, they are just a marketing ploy thou like the rachet straps and pocket lights you see at auto stores.

I know that link might be the OEM mfr, but I'd have a hard time talking myself into buying directly from a company with that much EnGrish written on their site "we have own dreams when we are childhood....":lol_hitti

So how do you buy it.
Looks like this is the OEM for this light - and possibly other popular work lights. Perhaps we should ask for quote for 1000 "Garage Journal" branded lights.

And perhaps 1000 of these too: http://www.lighting-faster.com/content/?986.html

Only thing I can find retail is Snap On brand for this image.

My dealer has one on his truck. The tech left it on a turbo and went out on a test drive. By the time he cam back the case had melted into three pieces and the gut were hanging out. It still lights and charges. Said he gave the guy a few buck trade in towards a new one for it just for a conversation piece. I'll have to see if I grabbed a pic of it.

Here is what the manufacturer said to my email inquiry. Guess SO is the sole distributor.

Dear Chris:

Thanks for your email;

This light is exclusively sold by one of importers in USA;
We would like to design the similar light for you if the quantity is large;
Pls kindly tell me how many pcs you want to buy;

BTW,I am curious about how do you find our website;Thanks a lot

Your response will be appreciated
Best Regards & Thanks

Eric

I am just kidding.

However it's interesting to go through their light selection and see all the familiar (and some quite popular) lights they make. Sold under many different names both in the US and Europe. Seems like design, innovation and even quality is doing fine in China after all.

I hate when you find a great product like that and then can't buy it, thou I understand why they do it.

I'd be in for one, maybe two if the price is right.

Sick of dealing with alkaline batteries.

ya think all that comes from the SO branding or the powerful chinese magic?
or the blistering 70$ price ?

I have a bunch of lights none cost more than 5$ all work very well

EU must be importing the non-**** cheap lights suitable for every day use, I've never seen one in the States though. They either break or the LED electronics **** out in short order. But hey, they're cheap just throw them in the landfill and buy 10 more right?

Even the expensive (for consumer) Nebo lights are junk in under a year of shop use.

Not saying a glorified Chinese Snap-On light is great but there is definitely a difference in quality of lights that carry a bit of a premium compared to dollar store junk when it comes to lasting in a shop and taking drops to the floor.

Yes Tuesday morning when my dealer shows up, I meant getting right from the manufacturer without needing to buy 500+ units to get them to sell to you.

Man, I'm really showing my age. Prices like that for a light would give me a heart attack ! Really, thats what a light costs ? Luckily I'm retired and don't need to buy lights at those prices. Man, I choke at $10 lights.

If we could get a group order in, they might very well be less than $5.00 each.

LOL!!! That would mean that company produces them for around $2 each!

They probably sell them to Snap On for $17.50 each and doubles their money,

Snap On sells them to the truck owners for $35 and doubles their money,

Truck owner brings it to my shop and sells it to me for $70 and doubles his money,

I end up with a top notch product I didn't even know existed until he showed me one at my shop. I must be the minority here but I'm pleased with the transaction and am fine with other people making a profit. Same as I expect when I go out and repair a piece of equipment in the field.

It would be interesting to see what we could get them for, I wouldn't be surprised if it was close to what snap on sells them for.

Note how they said "design one". The design is undoubtedly Snap Ons. So what they are offering to do is steal Snap On's IP, violate their exclusive contract, and sell to some greedy US bastards.

If you want the light, it's available. Go buy it. I think it was on sale recently. I have 3. They really are great.

Actually, this sounds to me exactly like they are the OEM and they are respecting the rules of the contract but not a step more. Having worked with more than a few OEMs in the scientific industry, American ones at that, this is the exact response you would get from them if you tried to get a product which matches ours. We give specifications and lock down what is important in the contract, they design the thing for us (through many revisions), at the end we lock down anything else that has shown up as important: you pay through the nose at this point so better to try to lock it down earlier. Once that's complete, the OEM knows exactly what they can and can't do for other companies that come to them.

1) it is a flashlight, there is no proprietary IP in these lights other than trade dress.

2)they explicitly state they will not sell this version. They know the contract and what parts snap-on locked down. Same with the OEMs I work with. They know what they can and can't do. It's up to snap-on to write their contact properly.

3) this is a lighting design company. They have to make a living too with their designs. There are only so many designs of lights. As long as it didn't look identical or infringe on something snap-on locked down in their contact then they have every right to earn their living.
