Got a question for you all, especially you Scope users.

I have been wanting a scope for a while. Just a DIYer but a scope looks handy to have and want to learn/play with it. I have looked at Vantage pros and the lowest they go for is around 500.

My question, is the scope on a Modis worth getting if you get a good deal? Lets say in the $500 range?

I realize it's not Pico or even the new versus, but looks like the at that price point, I may not want to pass it up. Also this Modis has the low amp probe.

Let me know your thoughts GJ.

For 500 dollars you can't beat it for the price, You just don't know how long it will work? do you know how old it is and what update it has??

I decided to buy the modis. Got this whole setup for $500. Includes cart, unit, batteries, low amp probe, a bunch of keys and a while mess of leads, connectors, etc.

Bought from a guy going out of business and had a new job. Look like everything works as I did a quick test on obd2 and scope but will have to do more playing a later date.

I have wanted a scope to play around with and think this will be a good unit to learn and use. Only down side that I can find is I am told the batteries don't hold a charge so may have to pick up one of those.

Well guess I need to go read sticks how to and watch some scanner dinner videos.

Thanks. Agree when you say the cart is a bonus. I was pretty happy to also get a low-amp probe with everything. Seems there is a lot you can diagnose with it as far as fuel injectors, fuel pumps, and ignition coils.

Already researching what it would cost to get a battery rebuilt. Primecell does them for $40. Would be nice to have one that can hold a charge.

I took one of the batteries over to the local batteries plus. There was little confusion given the battery pack was sonically welded shut. They were able to split the top and change out the batteries cells. Got the pack back yesterday and it wouldn't charge but would power the modis unit. Took it back and they had messed up one wire. I could tell just by putting a VOM on it and comparing it to the other battery.

Anyway they fixed it up and I glued the top back on. Cost was $40 for a rebuild. Already used the low amp probe and looked at the fuel injectors on a jeep. It's pretty easy to use in my limited testing. It's not the fastest running piece of equipment. Boot is slow, but for 500 I stepped into a decent automotive scope.
