Anybody have one of these scanners and can I get any domestic cartridges that go up past 2001,it works fine for the daily drivers I have but occasionally have a friend or neighbor that needs the codes scanned for slightly newer vehicles so I have to sent then to the discount parts stores. If that is as new as I can get then it will have to be since I dont plan of buying any newer vehicles and since I dont need it for work I wont spened much money to upgrade to a newer scanner since it works just fine for my late 80s to mid 90s daily drivers.

I have one also - like you, the newest vehicle in my family "fleet" is mid-'90s. The only suggestion I have is to look on eBay or CL. I haven't looked in quite a while, and I cheerfully admit I may be mistaken, but I suspect that to get anything past 2001 you're looking at the "programmable" (?) cartridges - those are fairly expensive, as I recall. Have you considered the top-level Innova scan tool? If it will give you the manufacturer-specific OBD-II data that goes past the govt-mandated "generic" data, that may be your most economical solution.

I looked on ebay and nothing newer the 01 so I will probably just have to live with it since I cant justify spending the money on a better unit.

There is an obd2 generic cartridge. Does the same as a code reader then. I just picked up a set of programmable cartridges updated through 06-07. Those cost me 275 dollars. But they are definetly worth it. I have bidirectional capabilities, and troubleshooter. Im into the whole set up for 375 dollars, start to get above that and you should hold out for a solus.
