I just picked up a MV70 1/4" drive Snap-On ratchet. I'm curious if any of you have had one of these apart before. I can remove the two screws, but something else is still holding it together.

Put it in a plastic bag, ten in a vice, take a brass punch an knock out the guts. The parts are the same as any other so rat from that era.

So it's probably just rust? I was afraid there was a fastener I was missing holding the selector switch or something like that. I'll give it a shot and see what happens.

The plate was just frozen in place from dirt and a little rust. It should clean up nicely. Not a bad little ratchet for fifty cents.

Thanks for the help.

I was also supposed to use a punch to remove the selector switch. I guess my fifty cent ratchet now needs a ten dollar repair kit. It looks like the kit will make it a 32 tooth ratchet instead of 20, so it might be a blessing in disguise. The spring was weak from being compressed for a number of years and now it will be a finer tooth ratchet.

Yea do as stated above. The old mv70s are nice ratchets, I have a few. They sell fairly high on ebay also. Congrats on the score.
