Hello guys,

I own this little rachet since I was serve in the air force (1997). All these years it works flawlessly until I decide to push a bit more and since them it work only at one direction (counterclokwise)...I have read that sometimes a good clean makes a difference but I am afraid not on this one as I know exactly what happens to it...I have found that repair kit # RKRA930A should work but I have found it available for both 20 and 30 tooth models...Should I have open mine to verify the actual model ?

Thank you!
Jim

You're going to have to open it anyway when you put the repair kit in.
Might as well look inside and see what gave .
If it's an old 20 tooth model you can put a 30 tooth kit in for a better swing arc.

Yep, Snap-on sold different tooth counts in the older pear heads for some reason. I had a 1/2 drive SL710 that came with 24 teeth, but the only rebuild kit Snap-on had was a 32 tooth. It fit just fine, although i think the spring needs trimmed.

Also, my Snap On rep told me they do not warranty military issued parts. ie; part numbers beginning with "M". They're easy to fix at home if you have the kit though. Good luck.

I have a "coarse and fine" tooth 3/8" drive SO ratchet. They were purchased as factory rebuilts in 1962. The F71C has 30 teeth and the F710A has 20 teeth. It is interesting that the F71C is a different forging with the shank being wider and flattened on the top and bottom.
