I bought a Snap-On MV71 on eBay that has a stuck screw. I have soaked it in WD-40 overnight and Kroil overnight. Still no luck. I think the next step is to drill out the screw head. Any suggestions?

It's crazy what just a little heat will do. Soak it, micro torch to the area around the threads, then spray some more Kroil to cool it, then give it a shot. Doesn't have to be red hot or anything to damage steel, just some consistent heat. Just my 2 cents. Maybe try to crack it loose by turning it in the tighten direction too?

Those are two good suggestions.

If they didn't work I'd really lean into it with my cordless impact. Hopefully it wouldn't strip out. If it doesn't work drill it. At that point I might guess somebody put some Loctite to stop the worn screw loosening all the time. At that point....

I have the full set of 3, MV71. I took me nearly a decade to collect them. I left my contact information at Pawn and second-hand stores.
There has been some good suggestions on dealing with tight fasteners. One of my favorite is the impact driver that gets hit by a hammer. if you are using heat and thread solvent, apply the liquid after the heat and let it sit.

Would heat harm the chrome. I have never heated chrome before.

Just this morning I heated the checkered chrome handle of a speed handle to break loose the rust bond. I used a small canned propane torch, and didn't hold the flame directly on the surface. I'm guessing I got it heated up to about 300 degrees when it broke loose. There was no effect on the highly polished chrome.

Heating to 300 degrees will also break down any Loctite bond.

I had an incredibly rusty FV71 that I ended up drilling off the heads of the screws, as they weren’t coming out any other way. It was easy to remove the screw stubs with visegrips. I cleaned it up and installed new stainless screws. It’ll never be a show piece but it’s operational.IMG_7357.jpegIMG_7358.jpegIMG_7362.jpeg

This took awhile to get back to because I bought a brand new 2/3 HP Craftsman drill press that was 14 years old and still in the box.

Anyway, I heated the ratchet twice ... no luck. So, I drilled the screw head out and installed new screws from a rebuild kit.
