Snap-On MV71 ... which is older?

I was wondering if anyone knows which style came first? I am pretty sure we cannot date them. Mine is the first one.

This is just a guess, as both are military probably from the 60s 70s. The military was trying to cut cost, so looks like it got switched from the fat handled one.
You can convert these to 3/8 drive with one of the older kits that have the faceplates.
