Has anybody tossed a RKRA711 kit, including dust cover, in their No.71N/M ratchet? Talked about it fitting before but without dust cover giving a recessed drive but I haven't found anything on including the dust cover. Kit includes 71M as a compatible ratchet and likely the s710 series are the same thing minus the I beam handle of course but I have no idea on the bushing from non dust cover to dust cover. I'd assume it is the same dimensions but haven't found anything to confirm it.

In short, wanting confirmation that rkra711 fits with dust cover in No.71N/M ratchets.

Will be trying to do a test fit myself once I find another ratchet and a rebuild kit but eBay is a tough place to buy anything at a good price this time of year and locally there isn't much of a 3rd party tool market or reliable drivers.

So I just noticed the -N model actually has a shoulder bushing. Almost bought one before noticing. So no kit will fit it, at least not the 71M/710 series. They use a hidden bushing. So now I'm looking for a 71M or S71 series to do a fitting on still. Those two are the exact same internally.

Think 71-N is the same as the 71-10 (shoulder bushing). Still assuming the gear and pawl are the same throughout them all, ignoring shorter gear for dust cover models.

Basically looks like the evolution is 71-10 (shoulder bushing), L710 (hidden), S710 (hidden+dust cover). All seem to be the same internals (teeth counts are different based on age but kits are same count excluding 71-10s because it's nowhere to be found) minus the bushing assembly and s710 has a shorter gear, same kits used in various rebuilds (972 kit in 71-10, 711 in L710, proper kit in proper model on S/L models) across here with a few mentions of 711 gear being recessed when dropped in L710. Looks like bushing is typically ignored in rebuilds. They don't break down too quick so they don't need switched out as often as the gear or pawl.

Now for I beam model equivalent.
71-10/71N
L710/71M, S71
None of the I beam handles have a dust cover.

Haven't found a rebuilt 71M/S71 with a dust cover yet (not expecting to) but have found L710 with 711 kit, complete 972 kit to 711. If I didn't get anything wrong here then I've answered my own question of if it works and looks right but I'm also ignoring the 71 kit which shows 71m/S71 as only compatible models while L710 would take the same exact kit (maybe chrome vs black backs, didn't pay attention to colours but know there's both). And of course from the beginning also ignoring (wanting to check in case of error given the no cover vs dust cover) the 711 kit listing 71M and S71 models as compatible. Also not expecting to find a good price on a ratchet for a bit still, one guys buying them all on ebay right now, but if my one (NOS more or less) breaks eventually then I'll do the swap.

In short. From what I've found on the round handle equivalents I'm pretty confident the kit works and looks as it should in 71M/S71. Not going to be trying to get a new ratchet to break down to check anymore and instead save space and wait for mine to break down some day.
