A coworker of mine gave me this ratchet to see if I can repair it. His grandfather bought it brand new and would love for it to work correctly. From my research, I have found this is a 1932/1933 type 3 No71 1/2" ratchet. It also has some markings on the head that I have not seen on any other ratchets from this era. The gears are not in terrible shape, but the s-type selector spring is missing. I have tried to fab up my own spring, but it just doesnt work like I want it to.

Anyone have any spare parts or know of a repair kit that can be put together?

Enjoy the eye candy:D

Well, you are probably out of luck. The spring is almost impossible to make. They do not make the kit. If you have to have this one fixed, its best to find another 71 just like this one. They made more than one type of 71, so you sould try to get the same one that has the screws on the faceplate like this one.

The one in question, (first post) has a broke spring. There was a post about someone making one out of piano wire. would be trial and error.
