I had the exact same problem with my black hard handle screwdrivers. I stopped by a Snap on truck, and the driver said this was a known problem. He replaced them , no problem. I told him that my dead blow hammer was disintegrating ,and I threw it out. He said to bad ,as he would warranty that too. I am a satisfied customer.

I have only had one thing ever warranted by SO and it was one of those old deadblow ball-peen hammers. They would turn into a Crayon-like substance and then crack and disintegrate.

Before it finally died:

...and after:

I call SO Canada and they couriered me a new one without any issue whatsoever.

Does SO warranty Blue Point? I have a dead blow that turned all chalky.

They will cover it under warranty like the others said as I had it happen to me and they sent me new screwdrivers in the mail. Here is the previous thread about it.

I had two of them just turn white and fall apart sitting right next to other snap on screwdrivers that looked just like them in the drawer.

The three sided handles crack, split and ooze oil, wasn't aware any of the four sided handles did that, but they look just like my three sided ones did. I have one yet, rest failed and were replaced. It is a known issue, but so old that many newer dealers are not aware of it. You need to inform the dealer if he balks, that he needs to discuss this with his rep, who will bring him up to date on old known issues such as this.

Being treated like that from a company is unforgivable. GLAD i never bought a single snap on tool.

Their stuff is nice, true quality but there is supposed to be a lifetime warranty. If the driver didn't want to help... he could have passed you along to customer service.
