I'm looking at sets of pry bars. These are Craigslist finds which helps keep the cost down.

The SO is a new 4pc set 8"-24". The other option is a similar new Matco 4pc set plus a 36".

Both sets are same price. Is the Snap On 4pc set worth it over a Matco 4+1pc set?

I was leaning toward the SO, but getting the extra 36" with the Matco set sure sounds appealing. If the SO are better quality, I would rather buy once.

Matco is USA made relabeled mayhew with different handle
Snap on I love but there plastic handles are prone to cracking with square handles atleast I don't like the new crown handles too much

Plastic is easy to clean but prone to cracking matco or mayhew attract oils but hold up to hammer blows much better

Look at mayhew is my opinion on price and longevity I use the 36 and 42 snap ons most compared to smaller sizes

Get the Matco set. They are very, very good. Leave COO out of the decision. You are looking at used items. The only benefactors in the transaction are you and the independent seller.

I have 10 of my own 4 or 5 more around the shop all Snap On. They are tough I've only broken one being the 24" curve tip.... They are a once in lifetime investment. I use and abuse mine they still look new just wipe them off and oil them. The 4pc set will do all general maintenance. I will say being a lighter individual working on larger stuff. I use my 36"s, 48", and our shops big 9' rock bar... often

You mean Snap-on doesn't make the pry bars with the screwdriver handles no more?

Don't think so. Drivers have some floating around.

I have all 3 sets. My Matcos came home after a month I don't trust them.

I have Snap On and really like them. No complaints. I have a big Matco one in my service truck. It's not bad either. I like my Snap On handles better if that makes a difference. Other than that they're both pretty good. I have CMan branded Wilde pry bars. Nonstriking cap set. They're ok. I'm a fan of Wilde just not so much their prybars. A little too much flex and I don't care for how thick the prying end is.

I've had the Matco set for over a year now, each of them have seen a bunch of use in my shop and they have never let me down. I got the set when they were on sale, can't remember how much I paid but they were worth the money.

Apparently you're correct. I looked at the online the digital catalog and although the picture is still there, the pry bars are no longer available.
