what do you mean by 'rare'?

do you mean 'scarce' or simpply 'not common'?

Best selling set for several years on the trucks. In fact they were the first Snappy sets that were not black.

Besides black, orange is by far the most common. In the modern age of hard handle re-release, green is probably giving orange a run for its money.

I have always wanted a full orange driver set but settled on green when the orange was unavailable and I haven't looked back, Now I like green better.

No they're not rare nor are they more valuable than most ratchets frrom when they were made. The only thing that may make it a little rare and get you a few more $$ would be if it was in un-used condition. The only ones from that era that have gotten more than they're worth on eBay that I've seen are the FK835, the speeder handle ratchets and the indexable head ratchets. There were a few limited release sets (light blue 3 ratchet set for example) that can get big $$ but that's about it.
The auction values of most older hard handled tools have and will continue to decrease since snap on has been re-releasing hard handled tools in a large variety of colors in recent years.
