I got a brand new ph3050 air hammer today out of the box for a demo. I searched prior threads and seen some comments, but would like to hear about the gun exclusively, I'm in heavy equipment repair bussiness and have to bang out bushings, pins, sleeves, cut, and anything else you would do with an air hammer. I have a IR117 and a Mac (not sure model), but got this one to test out. Dealer wants $290 with free chuck (but already have one), Give me the down low on this gun only! Currently for the next day or two I don't have any uses for this to really try this out. Thanks

I love mine. As far as automotive work goes, I don't believe there is a better hammer, and I've used IR's, CP's, and a few others. Power and control. The other brands either lack the power, lack the trigger control, or the COO I prefer. It's very noisey, but it gets the job done quicker. JMO

It makes quick work of driving rivits out of frame rails and suspension components as well as cutting bolts and so on.

Its the only snap on air tool i own anymore, i have tried a ton of them too. As far as that size of air hammer, nothing on the market can touch its power. Mine is 5 years old and hits like the day i bought it. Its a retared amount higher than anything else pricewise, but it hits that much harder. Worth every penny.

When I help the other tech (or he helps me) at the shop do rivited ball joints it takes me under a minute to get them out and it takes him 5 minutes. He agrees the snap on is better by far. He has IRs best air hammer.

for the work your doing you may also have to look a .498 shank guns as the smaller shank guns do have limits as far a hitting power for stuff you are doing. The above gun is fine choice for cars and light trucks but heavy trucks and equipment this may not be enough.

WHEN you decide to buy it, PM me if you don't need that new chuck. I'll give you $45 shipped so you'll really be paying $250 :)

I have the ph3050a also have the Mac ah750 the Mac seems to hit as hard but literally fell apart within a day of use on class 8 trucks the 3050 is still going strong and I always thought it was the absolute best gun until one of the guys bought the cp717 now that thing is a beast and much more controllable if you have the money I'd spring for the cp

I have had my snappy for 6 years work on heavy equipment have had no problems with it all. Started out with the Mac 750 and kept locking up. The other mechanic I work with said there was nothing wrong with it and bought. It died a year later. Very happy and impressed with it use it all the time.

ph3050?

hits harder than most .401 guns, a bit less finesse/control, decent.

I highly doubt that. More than likely he has a 117, 121, or 114. None of which are top of that maker.

Its like the 121........but its a longer stroke. But its a 401 shank....its not bad, but not as good as the snap on. I did use mine for 3 years at a truck shop and we did kingpins and springpins all day. Still going strong........i do oil it before and after EVERY us. For me it was a huge investment after buying 5 other air hammers before i just got the snap on.

I have the 3050 and if it were any more powerful it would need kickstands. I don't know it anyone makes a more powerful one but to be quite honest I can't see why you would need it.

I'm a diesel truck/ bus school bus mechanic .the snap on 3050 is ok , I bought this last spring, because mac doesn't make that model ah650 anymore . I spoke with my mac dealer about this and he told me the ones made now are not as tough as the old ones. I really miss my mac ah650, that sucker hit hard I broke mine beyond repair . that mac would free up frozen kingpin wedge bolts ,stuck s-cam bushings, anchor pins and sleeves and spring pin bushing with no sweat The snap on will get the job done it will just take longer and take more heat to get the task done

I just picked one up on craiglsist for $120. It was advertised as an impact air gun. Can't wait to test it out!

Heavy equipment tech here, I love mine. The only time I've wished it was stronger was when I had to resort to pin torching, but as you know, sometimes that's just unavoidable.

Can someone point me to a bit kit they recommend? I also would like to get a quick change chuck eventually.

I just got a used PH3050 from Ebay and it's a beast. I tried pounding out rusted rotors, axle spindles, etc., on the driver's side and it eat them all like butter. I used a $50 IR on the passenger side and it needed help from the PH3050 to knock the spindle loose and took longer for the rotor. I call the 3050 Arnold the Governator and call the IR Pee Wee Herman.

I use it often. If it was stolen or broke I'd buy another one immediately.

That depends so much on what you work on. I was in the same boat when I first got it, I ended up getting a couple straight pin bits and the large head bit. For the most part that's all I need, since then, I've bought different lengths of the same bits and different diameters, but no cutting bits. I have no use for them and besides, I have a cutoff wheel for a reason.

What size is the Snapon one with red handle ? I have googled that and looked in their web page and could not find the size of the Snapon bits versus the ones on the Ingersol Rand 122max.

thanks in advance:bowdown:

.401. Much larger (and usually cheaper) bit selection than .498.
