I've looked all over the snap-on site and can't seem to find the plastic tray that holds an 8 piece screwdriver set.

Is this available as a separate item?

Do you mean for hard or soft grips? My tray is for the hard plastic handled ones.

As you can see, the top and right has been trimmed. Otherwise, it's in pretty good condition. From the condition of the screwdrivers, i doubt this was used much.

Ryan,
Ask your Snap On man. A lot of times they will break sets to sell individual tools and they will save the tray for you.

I don't have a regular man. We do have someone that will make a stop if we call. Next time one of the mechanics calls I asked them to let me know.

I've got one of those, but I'm thinking since they no longer make the hard handle screwdrivers anymore, you may not be able to get the tray any longer either; I'm sorry to have to tell you that. :(

This is a perfect example of my complaint about the packaging of (some/most) hand tools. This plastic container IS good for displaying them when new, and is good if your storage space is really tight, but it is useless for practical purposes. If it were say 25% larger, it could be molded with recesses or raised supports such that you could grab one with an oil-covered hand without having to "dig down" to get one of them to pop out of its recess, covering the plastic with oil as well as at least one other screwdriver. Of the eight screwdrivers in that package, you might be able to delicately grasp the center two by their shafts without touching something else.

I think it's especially bad for Snap-On because of their premium price; they could afford to include a useful rack or module. This particular packaging is no better, or different, from a screwdriver set from Harbor Freight.

I have some free time coming up (maybe) and this may be a good project for getting my cnc mill set back up. I could make one from some hardwood. I wonder if there would be a market for something like that?

I've never actually see one of the trays in person, is it a thick sturdy plastic, or thin and kinda flimsy?

One more thing, is it just me or does the layout and search functions of the snap-on site really lack..

They are paper thin and take up tons of space in your box. Junk if you ask me.

I have the soft grip one that came with an additional space for the ratcheting driver. IMHO it's not worth shipping one across the country...

They're flimsy vacuum-moulded trays.

It does ****, What really ***** is that when you type in the search box and press enter, it does nothing. You have to click the enter/go thingy.

I think the problem would be that everyone would have different screwdrivers, and that by the time you got one generic enough for a majority, it would closely resemble what's already out there from Sears and Ernst, to name two that I'm familiar with.

They are rather flimsy; the plastic tray my microwave lasagna comes in is heftier and much more durable; I use them for parts trays.

I don't like it either, but compared to some of the other tools sites, it's decent.

I think MATCO is the best. Armstrong site is terrible. I don't like the MAC site very much either.

Ive always liked them. They keep all my stuff seperate, and some what organized. Yeah, they are kind of flimsy but they come with the tools.
