i am not 100% sure if we can get them since they are switching to the new style with the magnetic bottom. I can look into it. I have some in the bottom drawer of my box that i was holding for someone, but i have forgotten who wanted them. it was someone on here.

MR Shaun.

Find out what you can, I know a lot of people who prefer there sockets in the plastic tray that snap on ships there sets in, as fir the new sets with the magnet in it, I bought a new set of 3/8 impacts, deep and shallow, the shallow had the magnetic tray, very nice I must say, but the deeps were still in the old style plastic tray, just a little bit bulkier than the old ones.

If part numbers can be found, and the trays ordered separately, that would be excellent, as a lot of the guys I work with want them, and our dealer has never looked into it when asked.

I see them on ebay from time to time. I have a bunch I was going to list. I prefer Hansen trays and the metal ones with 4 rows of metal clips for my sets.

An alternate reality in a parallel universe.
Buy some of these. You'll love them. http://www.mechanicstimesavers.com/shop/product.asp?catID=1

3rd and 4th from the bottom for the swivel sockets. I use various products of theirs for my snapon swivel sets, hex drivers, torx drivers, etc and love them. They seem kinda expensive until you realize how much space it saves in your toolbox and how convenient they are.

+1, I have these for my Armstrong MAXX universal impact sockets, and do great.

I had the same problem with mechanic time saver socket holders so I decided to make my own modeled after theirs. Since I'm making my own I can custom make them to my exact socket size & type needs. This is my first attempt and I'm pretty happy with it. I figured a bunch of things out and they'll get better, faster and easier as I go.

This one still needs to have the magnetic board adhered to the bottom and either powder coated or painted. (Yes, you can have plastic powder coated.)

Plastic used is Polyethylene and simple word-working power tools with fine/sharp blades are used.

You should do a thread on this.
I would be very interested!

Maybe when I'm done with one. I'm having a really hard time finding a magnetic sheet with enough power to hold the sockets and the hold the whole thing upside on metal.

How much are the magnetic ones? I want a set for my Semi Deep and Deep 3/8 sockets as well as the specific lids.

I have one of those for deep sockets. Very well made. It didn't have any markings on it and was wondering who made. it. Thanks for the link.

just got SAE and metric 1/4 shallow sockets and they came in the magnetic ones. Not a bad idea though the bases are a little wider than they need to be. I may trim mine a little. The lids are too tight to be useful though IMHO.

What is the Snap-On tray made of?

Seems pretty cheap for magnetic tray. Anyone have close-up detail photo?

Where did you find the block of polyethylene material? I am looking for a nice storage solution for my 1/2" swivel impact socket (and do not like the rails).
