Anyone know what the deal is with the dozens of Snap-On PLR300`s that are currently on ebay or have recently ended?? Are they just a cheaper set made to sell elsewhere or what? Just curious about it,BTW 99.9% of the listings are in Illinois.

Not a cheaper set. The pliers are the same ones Snap on has been selling for a long time and current production. I have been watching them. They have sold a ton of them.

Did you know that you can pick a penny up by Abe Lincoln's nose with the needle nose pliers?

I guess there IS a difference, besides the price. I have tried to do that with other brands of pliers. They just wont pick it up. I am guessing that Merk will be proud.

Can you guys offer any opinions on the other SO items that are on Ebay as "new"? I was looking for a TL72 ratchet and there are a half a dozen at 30% off of what SO charges with each vendor having multiple quantities. Could these be dealers looking to make quick sales? How much stuff could "fall off of the truck" or "walk out the Crystal Lake facility"?

I think allot of this stuff probably could be "gray market" or industrial suppliers that offloaded overstock and ended up in the wholesale market. I've seen whole pallets of Snapon tools on ebay and everything is brand new.... Snapon tools are just like anything else... they end up in the wholesale market and get liquidated... sold off to whoever will buy them!

My pliers as a whole are looking a little rag-tag over the years, so I've started to try and improve the contents of that drawer somewhat. Due to this thread I picked up one of these sets on eBay, we'll see how it works out.

OK, so they came in today... as the seller advertised, brand new in the package, still had the shrink wrap on them. Not sure how you could go wrong here, they look incredible.

you are very close on your comments. we do not have and " suppliers " we have dealers and industrial reps and things do get lost in the mail also and people do things they shouldn't .

I also bought a set of these when they showed up and they are really nice. Well worth the 68 to my door.

Careful not to burn your fingers handling those pliers.

Who really knows how they got them, I do know the cops watch eBay for stolen stuff, they busted a couple of people that were ripping off Home Depot and selling the stuff on eBay. In the last week the Chicago cops busted two big theft rings that were ripping off tools, woo hoo! Based on the 18 days in jail one guy recently got for almost killing a woman I bet these guys serve at least two days, maybe three.

6 years ago on ebay someone was constantly selling huge lots of the same wrench from MAC. one day i thought why not get 25, 19mm stubby wrenches all brand new for $85.

i bought it, as promissed all were brand new. i kept 2 and credited the rest to the mac dealer in which credited $325 to my account.

same person was selling mac ratchets 10 to a lot and wrenches anywhere from 5 to 40 per lot. located in texas somewhere. not even a dealer would order that many of the same wrench at a time. must have been stolen from the factory...

I got a set of those for $51.00 shipped the other day. I was the only bidder. My only complaint is they are a little stiff. Any recommendations to loosen them?
