Snap On. Point where they stopped date coding .

Its been mentioned that for a time in the 70's, Snap on didnt date code some tools. Below is my F710D with no date code.
For kicks I went on eBay and looked at pics of others. I've seen 69, 76 and 78 codes and it makes me wonder to what extent they stopped. Is it safe to say this ratchet was made sometime within 70-75 ? or did some date coding occur?

I have Snap on from several different years that are not date coded, so I doubt there is a definitive answer. You could get in the ball park if you could determine when they started and stopped that model. After looking at the dust cover on the head, I am guessing the mid 1970s to early 80s. I have three ratchets from that era (1976-1982) with the same metal cover. My later 1980s ratchets have the plastic cover.

I know it doesn't appear in the 79 catalog and according to 'Collecting Snap On' they started making them in 1970 ( I did see a 69 specimen though).
That should be good enough but I guess so many other tools with date codes has spoiled me.
