I wouldn't pay any more than $400 on it, and that's assuming it looks a lot better in person.

Looks like a Husky box with a Snap-on badge

Shoulda gone legit and put the Mac Economizer badges on it, but he got greedy.

Yup, bottom drawers are all wrong... and the key will be a regular single bit instead of a tubular.

I paid $400 for mine with a top in good shape... screwed up roll cab would be jack squat.

zkling's main rule for buying used tools or anything for that matter based on experience......

Assume the seller is a complete liar and knows nothing about the item in question. Everything they tell you should be taken as inaccurate. That way you won't be disappointed and very seldom pleasantly surprised.

when he messaged me this morning and told me that he couldn't find a serial number or the sticker on the back, I told him it was a rebadged Husky box and it was worth at most $250 with a messed up slide. I told him good luck because I was no longer interested

Good job, he was trying to screw you over and he knew it. I don't even think it is worth 250.

I'm surprised he even got back with you. Has he updated the ad to indicate it is not a snap on box?

I agree, I don't think it's worth $250 either. A couple things I've noticed locally in toolbox for sale ads, is that no matter what brand, as long as it's a toolbox the seller automatically assumes it's a Snap On, or at least should be priced accordingly. My wife showed me a local for sale ad, and it was a Harbor Freight 26 inch tool chest combo for $400 used. Crazy.

Last November a friend of mine went to one of them storage bin auctions, he was laid off for the winter and figured he could buy and sell the bins like on TV..

Well he calls me and asks "What is a big Snap On Box worth" so I told him to send me a pic, but he said it was going off right now and had no time, he told me it was about 10ft long, shiny black, said snap-on, had a wood top looked brand new, and there was a big compressor, some big jacks, and tools all over the bin. I could hear the auctioneer at $5K..

My exact words were I would pass, you don't know enough about what you are looking at to drop that kind of money. He still wanted to know what a box like that was worth so I said "well thats a big box, probably $4K easy used, if its full of snap-on tools it could be $40K..

He won the auction, $10500!!!

He called me and said I was going to want this box, he couldnt open it but it felt super heavy and they couldnt move it!!!!

So I bit, he needed help moving the stuff so I threw the trailer on my truck and took a ride up there, I new it wasn't an SO box from 30 feet away, he ended up later figuring it out with the help of the internet that it was a Hyxsion box or something like that, worth about $800 new... The compressor he seen had no compressor on it, just a motor and 80ga tank that was about 20 years old.
All together in the bin there was about 1,000 worth of tools, the box had a really nice paint job and ince he got it opened it was full of body man tools, old spray guys, hammers, one drawer had nothing but paint literature!!! As worthless as you could imagine, come to find out it was a company that went out of business and left the gear in the garage, the owner had to store the contents for x amount of time before getting rid of it...

He lost over $9K on that unit and did a ton of work moving the stuff and selling it all. He did sell that box though, he tried to list it as SO {against my warnings that people aren't that stupid} but he got $550 for it with a drilled lock, which I was impressed by, I wouldnt have paid $300...
