Snap-On "Push-Pull spring tools"?

Everynow and then I'll see one of these in someone's drawer and I seen one laying on my snap on guys counter at the same spot n never moves. Didn't think to ask him but what do u guys use em for. Obviously small springs but give me a real life example.
Basically tell me why I need to spend the money on one of these haha
Actually see they make 2 different ones a size 1/16" bigger....odd

Headlight bulb retainer clips. Subaru (though there is plenty of clearance in that app) and my TJ that has a headlight conversion. That tool is a lifesaver in that application, the bulb/housing is tucked in there. I use this one however....

Though I've always made my own by heating a broken dental pick and bending it to shape.

They're good for moving something around in a tight space. I've used them to re-assemble antique clock movements. As you put the two plates back together, you need to manipulate each of the wheels' pivots to fall into its respective bushing. Kind of like picking a lock actually.

We used the earlier version of that tool to install snowmobile exhaust systems. Most of the elements in the exhausts were held together by some fairly stout springs and the tool made assembly significantly easier.

I've got one...bought one cause I had never seen one until it was in a sale flyer a while back. Prior to that I used flat head screwdrivers to put springs on...since getting the tool, I haven't had a need to use it yet. but still glad I got it, just wish they had a Green handled one

I think I'd be inclined to take a Dremel and old flathead driver and make a clone of that Snap On tool, personally.

I've got a number of small similar tools, both handled and dentist type, that I use for ignition advance springs...obsolete concern for all you whipper snappers, but very hand in a little fiddly job. One of them I found on the library floor by a xerox machine, suggesting another area of work with lots of sprung widgets.

Looks like they made a new revised version of that one as the new ones have a notch in the ene aswell to push springs?

use this one for locking a holding drum springs works well. Not quiet the same...

Years ago you needed them to change headlights. The retaining ring used springs to hold them in place. I have the old style black handle one.

I bought a similar tool from Epstein's for a whooping $3 awhile back . Not that fancy but, I'm sure it will get the job done if I ever use it.
