Can't go wrong with older USA made tools..... I fly it proud and dont give a **** what my neighbors think or what any punk highschoolers think about it.

its not this country or its people that make people like me sick, its the people that rule over us like its some game. while i hate our government in its current form, i still buy u.s. made tools proudly knowing im keeping decent paying jobs here and not supporting sweatshops in china. is the coo an end all? no, but i would still pay a bit more for a u.s. made tool vs others.

edit: You know what... I've already gone off topic enough, and I don't care to get in any more of a ******* match, so I'm going to leave this thread with three quotes:

If you aren't part of the solution, you're part of the problem.

Everything is good in moderation.

Don't **** on your own dinner plate.

I must comment that the point in complaining about Snap-On possibly manufacturing tools overseas is not an issue of quality -- it's more an issue of price and yet another American icon being destroyed by cheap overseas labor.

If Snap-On is going to manufacture their tools in China, no matter what the quality I cannot be convinced that the HF junk available at 10% or less of the price will not perform just as well. Furthermore, if Snap-On can no longer rely on the "we manufacture in America" line of ********, then what justification will they have for charging $18 per socket? If they wish to manufacture their tools overseas to save money, that's fantastic. They are not the first and won't be the last. But the idea that the tools will still be worth the often greater than 100% premium over other USA brands is ABSURD. Coming from a lifelong Snap-On buyer and user.

Every time someone mentions HF/Sears tool section like that, it shows they have a disconnect with the reality. The reality is HF/Sears don't even sell half of the stuff (excluding online "market place") so no matter where some of that stuff is made, you couldn't possibly buy one from a homeowner store because they don't sell them.

We aren't talking about merely sockets, ractchets, and wrenches, there is a whole myriad of items required to repair various equipment. Have you checked out harbor freights new labscope?! No, I didn't think so.

Anything Snap on sells i can get from another source online. Scanners might be a different brand but who cares...the only Snap-on scanner i like is the vantage pro anyways. Homeowners are allowed to shop anywhere a mechanic is.

The problem with this argument is that Snap-On doesn't manufacture most of their specialty stuff -- and plenty of others manufacture the same or better quality stuff in a lot of cases. I get it, the truck provides greater availability and convenience. But it's not worth such a huge premium if they can't even make their tools here anymore.

I am well aware of the varying quality of tools made overseas. I have seen very nice stuff marked China -- but it's principle at play here. I have no interest in spending $400 on a Snap-On socket set and finding either "China" stamped on each piece or finding no COO at all. Sorry, but there are better alternatives. If my tools say Snap-On and the COO is not the US, then what's the point? Everyone loves to sneer at the Cornwell, Mac and Matco guys for their import stuff and I honestly don't blame them. Except it looks like our beloved Snap-On is now headed down the same road.

We werent due for another thread like this until next week.

Where is that dead horse smiley?
Can we just lock this one now so it can join the other 2,563,154,876 ones just like it in thread hell? This is just nauseating.

On the other hand, why don't we just solve the problem right at the source. Create a Snap On bashing forum, a Snap On fanboy forum, same thing for Cman, and let all the rubes just go post there to their heart's content.
Here we go again

Yeah, I'm sure he was trolling.

Why don't you guys let it go?
If somebody wants to talk about it, what is the big deal.
IMO if it bothers you, don't read it.
Maybe the OP wants to kick it around a little bit, and not read old searches on the subject.

Can't go wrong with older USA made tools. Many more of those were made with pride.

Older Craftsmans and an array of other older USA brands were pretty decent quality.

It may be hard to believe, but there was a time in this country when the USA lable was heavily stamped into a product with extream pride. This country was proud to be what we were and we didn't care what others around the globe thought of us. Not sure why so many Americans (especially business) are so ashamed today of displaying a USA lable on their products. Must not be enough national pride these days. :(

I've flown Old Glory in front of my house long before and well after 9/11 made it trendy for a brief time. I think most Americans just responded like sheep, because everyone else was doing it after 9/11. That didn't last long though. I fly it proud and dont give a **** what my neighbors think or what any punk highschoolers think about it.
that 911 flag business was a joke IMO.
I remember going down the freeway swaying a little with my turn signal on, trying to change lanes, and all the cars passing me on the right, and won't let me over, with flags on there cars.

Did your neighbors give you a hard time about flying the flag?

Agreed. Everytime someone (usually a junior member) brings up a thread like this, someone on their high horse talks about beating a dead horse.
