Which do you guys prefer, the 17" handle of the SX80 or the 24" handle of the SLF80? I'm thinking SX80 because the tool would be too big to use alot of the time with the longer handle..or so I'd imagine.

Also, Does anyone have one of these?

Do they come in a set, or only sold in 3/8 drive? is the magnet strong enough to be handy?

For general automotive work If I had to have one or the other it would be the 17" handle, Its a little easier to swing around and will be plenty long enough for most things. I would suggest at least adding a 24" breaker bar though.

i agree with you..

i own snap on 15in long handle ratchet(2), one snap on 24in long breaker bar, and snap on 24in ratchet(flex). the reason i got 24in long flex ratchet as i did a many ford 4.6L and 5.4L cylinder heads replacements due to burnt valves and some of them are stripped the spark plugs and someone tried to fix but got it worse.

But i have craftsman flex long ratchet like 18in. it is not use much as i use snap on... i always overloads on my snap on and it stay hold while craftsman would crack the gut...

The SLF80 or SLF936 is on my list of stuff to buy when I find a good deal. Its a monster ratchet for monster jobs. I've got a 25" breaker bar, 15" ratchets in 3/8" and smaller, but sometimes I want a monster ratchet and 17" isn't going to do anything 15" won't.

That's when you get one of these bad boys:

who prefers what, locking flex, or full flex? Don't they flex the same amount, just the one clicks as it flexs when unlocked, but is lockable in any position. correct? thats how I understood it.

I like having normal flex heads and normal long handles. I guess if I were to buy just one, I would probably get the locking since it seems to cover both ratchets. My only problem with the SO is that you have to slide it over to get it to stay unlocked. I'd be worried about it getting knocked out of the unlocked position during use since it is spring loaded (I think). I prefer the Matco locking mechanism which looks more like a selector switch.

Yeah, thats why I'm getting the locking one, covers both. I haven't heard of any problems with the locking mechanism. I prefer the snap on 80 tooth ratchets, and the whole body design, just the best IMO.

I like the 936 series, they look better, and better to use when doing suspension.

I have both (SF80 and SHLF936), use the SF80 10:1 over the SHLF936. The SHLF936 is almost 26" inches long and is just to long to swing around after you broke the nut/bolt loose. I now prefer not to have locking flex heads, though early on I liked em.

I own 2 SO 24" flex ratchets and 1 SO 18" flex ratchet, I use the 24" one more but I work on large machines. I don't buy the locking flex ratchets any more because I tend to shear off the lock button.

The magnetic socket holders you asked about, I owned a set for over 15 years and used them one time because they don't work well at all.
