im new to the whole snap on thing

i have a few questions

is there a guide on buying a rolling cab

or is there a site for sizes of drawers and stuff

Guide? What kinds guide do you expect? Its just a freaking snap on. Its not gold. Lol. Google snap on roll cabs. I'm sure a few million hits will turn up. One of the first 5 should give you snap on. KRL, KRA etc. Why do you feel you need a snap on box? After all, it doesn't do anything for you but hold tools. Why not a harbor freight 44" chest? Highly reviewed here and on my short list to buy. If you need more space you can buy three of them for the price of a decent SO box.

Or, you you do what I did and buy 4 Halfords Industrial bottom roller cabinets and bolt them all together. They are the best bang for your buck (when they are on offer).

If your not going to use it professionally, and even if you would, their a waste of money. $2,000 (US) for a used box is absurd. Ill try to provide some useful research feedback.

I recently did some research and even contacted Snap On customer service to verify my findings.

With the KRL Boxes. They are the same build / fit and finish / material / construction quality across the board. The different KRL boxes allows you purchase more storage, drawers, load capacity based on your needs. The casters are different yes, but that is what provides the higher load rating.

If a KRL-722 will fit your needs it is no less of a box then the more expensive KRL-7022 as far as build quality is concerned.

LOL yeah right. I've never seen a mechanic shop with Lista boxes in it. They don't have any real market presence in that industry whatsoever. Their market niche is industrial contracts, not the little guys.

That's a matter of opinion, and value is in the eye of the beholder. Most mechanics prefer MAC, Matco, or Snap-On boxes. Cheap-o stuff has its place, and many apprentices have them, but the nice stuff is just that. Nice.

i have seen boxes go for funny money because there snap on plus people over here will pay for it even if its second hand

my pal has one he uses it everyday in his job hes wanting 3500 pounds and its not in the best con plus hes had it for ages and hes already had offers on it so its worth buying it if the price is right

People should really Read more, concentrate Hard and then hit reply... Nobody has to be right or wrong or be on a so called bandwagon. The most important part of your post was when you said it was a "matter of opinion", unfortunately you crapped on everyone's else's before and after.

To the OP..

You should be able get some configuration data off the web which will include dimensions Etc... Do you have a strong dealer network in the UK? I would think they would be able to assist.. I can't comment on lista because I've never had my hands on one, I've heard nothing but good things. Good Luck..

It was a light hearted joke, calm down. Snap On marketing has done wonders for you. Open your eyes fella, there there is a big, wide world out there.

Take a look through their website and catalogs - then comment.

Lista is more common in the UK and they do offer a number of standard rollers specifically aimed at mechanics. They are fantastic value for money.

And given that the drawers and slides are all designed for industrial, heavy use, they will be more than capable of holding a few tools.

You also don't seem to appreciate how crazy Snap On prices are in the UK, even second hand prices are hard to justify compared to the alternatives.

snap on boxes in my locale in very good condition are going for a little more than 1/2 price of original purchase, and often times less. The original purchaser usually take a grand on the chin just peeling the sticker off the drawers.

Sure there are some exceptions, but local craigslist and want ads have a dozen daily and the same ones run ads for weeks dropping a couple hundred each time. For 2k you can get a 2 bank snap on mint, add about 700 to 1k more and get a triple bank w/ goodies thrown in - all day long w/o even really looking.

Thinking maybe I should hop a freight liner & sail the north atlantic loaded w/ snapon boxes to Galway and set up camp if the market is crazy and the pound is brutal vs. the dollar - which is retarded weak $$$

Don't know what part of Scotland you are in, but spent some time in edinborough and got caught up in a hen party in the grass market - needless to say missed the coach the next morning. Lovely country and nice folks to boot. Same goes for Ireland.

As far as I can tell they have a lot of very nice deals on used snap on tool boxes in the UK. If I were in your shoes why not call an ad and stop by to see a tool box for sale, that way you can gert a better idea of what size will meet your needs.

Do you have a way to move the tool box, if not you might need to rent a small truck or trailer in order to move the tool box.
