I just picked one of these up on eBay, and I can't see any reason for the quick release button on the head, since the sockets don't stick to it any better than my other 1/4" Snap On ratchets. Does mine have a manufacturing problem, or is that the way it was designed to work. This ratchet is new and doesn't even have a fingerprint on it. I was hoping that it would hold the socket until you pressed the release on the head to remove the socket.

That's exactly how its suppose to work. Make sure your 1/4" sockets have scalloped areas for the detent ball, some brands don't.

I am using Snap On sockets. I was hoping that I wouldn't have the problem of sockets falling off like I do with the regular ratchets.

I have a trio of dual 80 QR ratchets in the flex variety, I use them all the time, they all work like a QR should. Cman, Snap-On, MAC etc.. all sockets stay on.

Fiddle with it a little and if its not working give Snap-On a call for a rebuild kit. RKRTR72A
