Got this little ratchet today at an estate sale, guy said its Snap on so got to be worth two bucks. I said ok. Then when you get home you think to yourself what can I use this for, work or to look at. I know its a refrigeration ratchet (I don't do much of that) anybody else use them for something?

is there a visible date code on it? Might be worth something to a collector but for 2 bucks I would have bought it just to hang it on a peg and look at it now and then.

Thanks for the info Billymade I'm more interested if anyone actually uses these. I think I have a least a half dozen different ones and would like to find a use for at least one of them. G P its a 1935 date code and yes its probably better as a hanger.

If you look at the vintage snap-on catalog pages; with all the adapters and sockets they sold with the ratchet... it would be just as useful as any typical ratchet they made. Now, finding all those adapters today; might, be a challenge but you can certainly see where snap-on accessorized this ratchet to make it useful in a variety of situations. As it is; with a square drive, it has limited use but adapters would open up a whole world of options! :)

In particular; look at (1933 Catalog J p02); the R12/R13 adapters would give you 1/4" and 3/8" drive compatibility.

I found this consignment shop locally where in random bins of old us wrenches and odds and ends I found a few 1/2" and 3/8" adapters for those old ratchets, next time I come across one Ill let you know, Im bound to make a trip sometime soon.
