Snap On Rachet Handles and Shanks

So I am new to the board, but turning wrenches for years. I have grown found of my 936 model ratchets and decided to update them to the newer handles. Slim comfort verses the three sided Ultra comfort handles (which are no longer made). What I noticed was my long handle 936 in 3/8" only has a handle shank that goes about 2/3 into the handle. My 936A short handle 3/8 has a full length shank.

I assume the difference between the non "A" and "A" models is this shank as the handles are the same replacement part. My concern is that I took off the larger handle that was solid at the base and replaced it with one that is hollow at the base. I assume the torque needed to break it at that point would be greater than the hand could apply, but has any one done this and had it crack?

This is a very small concern and more of a curiosity as I just got a long handle 936A I am rebuilding so the non "A" will not see much use.

There's no difference an you will never snap a handle off of any model put whatever grip on them it don't matter on a 936 put hard or soft whatever you want. I've never seen one with a 3 sided grip as those we're only for screwdrivers .you can use a hard grip fromxa screwdriver but may have to drill the hole bigger to fit the shank. I have the 936 rtchets with the lime green soft grip handles with black unlike the black with green like today's ,they are identical they just went from colored to black with color because of dirt and grease showing I think and only did the one style for a year. They have used the older soft grip screwdriver handles not the instinct but the older style you can use those or hard handle or new comfort grip up to you hell you could use an instinct grip if you wanted but have to drill them like the other screwdriver grips. I think I gave heard of people having to trim the shank on dual80 ratchets to get hard handles on them.
Good luck.

You might look for older soft grip screwdriver with handles but they don't make any 3sided soft grip anymore with instinct handle might be better for you with the hard handle combination I might have a few and soft grip handles if you want when I switched out to hard handles

Thanks. If anyone has good three sided grips I would love to get some. Been using my 936 with a new soft grip with no issues. Thanks for the responses.
