I am looking for advice on how to repair the ratchet selector on my Snap-on ratcheting screwdriver. The selector is jammed and will not rotate to either the center-locked position or the clockwise-ratchet position. I have tried releasing the mechanism by applying LSP-1 and Aero Kroil over several days with no success.

There is a small window on one side of the racket selector with two tangs that are visible. It appears to be some type of cir-clip that retains the selector, but I have not been able to remove it and I don’t want to ding up the handle.

I would appreciate any assistance with disassembly instructions or help with unjamming the selector. I am reluctant to send it in to Snap-on because it is a commemorative PAMA tool.

Thanks!

I'm a little late to the party, and ourkid is right on the mark. I didn't have a pair of needle nose pliers at home small enough to get the retaining clip off, but I did have good luck with a pair of tweezers and some patience. You've probably got a better selection of tools at home than I, but if not, hope this helps.
