Snap On Ratchet Handle Question

I am getting ready to take the plunge on some new to me ratchets.

Currently, I have some Craftsman that are 20+ years old that have served me well, some MAC that are around 10 years old but I want to step up.

The Craftsman are the normal chrome handle versions but the MAC use a hard handle similar to a screwdriver. I like that feature becuase the load is spread across my hand better.

So, 10+ years ago I remember seeing these hard handle ratchets, breaker bars, etc in the snap on catalog that had hard handles like the screwdriver handles. What happened?

All I see now is the chrome version or the soft handle, which I am concerned about durability with.

Are these ebay only items??? Are they in demaned, in other words cost more $$$ than a normal snap on?

Thanks, Tom

The hard handles are back. Unless you see a truck, then yes eBay is your best bet or here once in a blue moon in the classifieds. Most colored hard handles Red Green Yellow Pink you are going to pay a premium. Black or Orange are not so hard to get and are cheaper. You can also go to snap on web site and order through them.

My Snap-On guy has had the HH ratchets in 1/4 & 3/8 on his truck for the last couple months. He often gets promos in and has them until they sell out. After that, you never know when they will be back. I missed out on a set of orange hammers and waited about 4 months before he got a set back in. When they came back, he saved a set for me. If you aren't already working with a Snap-On guy, next time you see a truck stopped somewhere, just knock on the door and he will usually be happy to help. Be sure to get his card and maybe a catalog & price list for future use and contact.
If you want Yellow or Pink handles, GET THEM NOW! They are only here for Mother's Day and Father's Day.

I haven't seen the hard handle ratchets on their website yet; you gotta link?

All I am pulling up now is soft grips:headscrat
Talk to any snap on dealer.
Mr. Shaun or Chadster would appreciate any chiming in please.
At christmas time they were on the site and a bit after but not finding them now. :headscrat

Call snap on 1-800 # and I am sure they will help you. I do know that the 5 trucks in OKC have them in stock on the trucks in Green, Orange, Red, Pink, Black. Yellow is back ordered, as is Navy Blue.

My apologies for the hijack, but since we're on the subject of hard handles....
Does anyone know if SO has/will have hh's for the picks and prybars?

I would ask my guy but his business went tango uniform about three months back and he's gone for good.

Do these hard handle ratchets come in 1/2 drive? If so what are the part numbers?
Thanks!

Are there hard handle long non locking flex head ratchets, like a FHLF80 with a hard handle instead of a comfort handle? I'm not picky as to what color it is.

My trucks had a few sets of green hard handle prybars for about 4 months now.

Do they sell hard handles for 1/2" drive ratchets to replace the comfort grips?

If you convert a ratchet from soft grip over to hard handle, you're going to have to shorten the shank that fits inside the handle, otherwise to install a hard handle on to a soft grip ratchet without shortening the shank, the handle would have to be much bigger (way, way bigger. Like cartoonish big). But to answer your question directly, no, I do not believe there is a direct retrofit available.
