Snap On Ratchet Repair

Hoping some of you experienced mechanics or dealers can help me out. I have a f841 with a loose head and a somewhat rough ratcheting action on it. I dont have access to a truck or really know anyone that works at a shop. If I am able to come across a snap on truck what repair or replacement should I get? I am assuming the internals are normally just replaced but what about the loose flex head? Any chance they will just replace the ratchet with a newer model and what are the possibilities of upgrading to a finer tooth design. I dont really care much for the 30 tooth. I am not expecting a brand new fine tooth flex head in return but just wondering what my options are. Any advice from you snap on guys would be greatly appreciated.

Sent it in and they will replace it with a new one... If you don't want to, call them and they will send parts out.

A few years back the Snap-on man stopped by our dealership on his normal run and a customer ran out of the waiting room with a Snap on ratchet in his hand. He asked the Snap on man to repair it and he did, right there on the spot.

Scout your town and look for a Snap on truck if you don't want to wait on sending it in/getting another one shipped out.

I have guys who have bought one and have come back for another then another then another.

Will they replace with a new fx80 instead or reparing or replacing with a non fine tooth ratchet? The reason I am asking is because this was listed as an fx80 on ebay when I bought it. If I can get it replaced with an fx80 no questions asked I will do that instead of sending it back. Paying for shipping to snap on wouldnt be a big deal as I would have to pay to ship it back to seller for the refund. Would be better to be out a few more bucks and have a brand new ratchet like I want instead of my money back and no ratchet at all. Thanks for the input guys! Definately helps younger guys like me make good choices on tool purchases.

Ship it in and have Snap-On send you back a Dual80 (if it's broken)

In your situation, just on principle I would try all means possible to hold the seller responsible for sending you the wrong ratchet. Don't let this douchebag get away with it just because Snap-On is so generous with their warranty.

In your situation, just on principle I would try all means possible to hold the seller responsible for sending you the wrong ratchet. Don't let this douchebag get away with it just because Snap-On is so generous with their warranty.

I do agree with this as well, the seller is making a profit on snap on's expense. I would ask him for some money back and then keep it and be happy.

No havent left feedback yet. So far she has been responsive and willing to negotiate and also has offered a refund. If I can get a new 80 tooth replacement for this I will negotiate the price to a more accurate number for a well used f841. Anyone have an idea of a reasonable price to negotiate with? I dont believe this is a case of someone knowingly misrepresenting an item. It seems like an honest mistake although it doesnt take too much searching online to come up with an accurate description by searching for the model number on the handle. To some people a ratchet is a ratchet...feel sorry for those people.

45 dollars would be about right on that ratchet. If shes still comunicating she's probably on the up and up. I'd have her bring the price of the ratchet to 45 dollars and refund the shipping if any. I;m sure the bidding didn't get much higher because most people who buy these know what they are looking at. If she showed you a stock photo of a new ratchet of of a real FXFX80 then I'd move a little differantly. If it was the ratchet in the photo, then get it at a price thats fair to both of you plus your shipping back

Even if you get it for free, I don't know if would be right to want to trade it in for a dual 80... Snap on would replace it, but it seems if you bought it expecting a dual 80, and the seller was misleading then I would get it for as cheap as possible and then have snap on send me the kits and move on with a working ratchet. Have it replaced seems like you are abusing the warranty with snapon, but that could be just me.

I agree with were your coming from mrholeshot and thats about what I was thinking on the price. The picture posted wasnt clear or large enough to make out all the details so I took a chance on going by the item description. Wont do that again. Looking back on it now you can make out the screws are on the selector side of the ratchet head as opposed to being on the oposite side like the newer style.
