hey everyone. so snap on is coming to my work on thursday and i have the open check book on what i want for our companys needs. but while I'm buying stuff for the company id like to buy with my own money of corse a few new ratchets for me.

i just got a bunch of new sockets and I'm building my tool collection at home so i just want to buy good stuff. as for me buying a ratchet should i buy the black and red handle or go with the pure full polish. i will start by buying a 3/8ths and maybe a 1/4 i don't have lots to spend. but I'm sure there will be stuff ill be saving up for. so whats your advice. thanks Jason

Buy used man you'll save a lot of cash.

Unless you open up your check book pretty big and have them cut you a hell of a discount.

F80 would be the first ratchet I would buy

Buying used is the way to go though

If I could choose, it would be an FHOF80. I just really like the offset handle.

I'm not really looking at saving money on tools I'm okay with spending what it takes to get good stuff made in the usa hey if the guy gives me a deal because the company i work for buys alott on the truck then sure ill take it but if not then I'm happy to to support him in making a living too.

thanks

The comfort handle vs the hard handle thing always seems to be 50/50 split
on here. The chaps who do allot of very messy work and or live in a warm
climate will tend to go for the hard handle, and the ones who don't get so
oily and or live somewhere very cold will champion the comfort handle....

and there will be a few that no matter how dirty or clean they get or how
hot or cold the climate will prefer one or the other.... and then there are those
that can't make up their minds and have 72 ratchets covering everything.

I for one am glad I did not ever start a Snap-On collection, the amount of
different permutations just to buy a couple of ratchets would make my head
completely explode....

Glad I could help... Have a nice day.... :D

I prefer the metal handles, they just feel "right" to me.

The comfort grips are nice too, but I'm just old school I guess.

I loved metal handle ratchets until I started using the comfort ones. Now the metal ones just feel too small.

Same reason I switched as well. 1/2" drive was ok. I put hard handles on all mine though. Bit easier to clean and I like orange :)
