I have been reading here that Snap-On ratcheting screwdrivers could be converted to interchangeable shanks. Do you need that rubber washer and are there any other things that I need to know?

I have a SnapOn ratchet screwdriver in green. It works like any other screwdriver with interchangeable bits. If you are referring to the rubber washer between the handle and the removable storage cover, an "O" ring will work just fine and look more professional.

I was wondering about the rubber washer that the interchangeable handles have under the selector switch and the fixed shanks have like a star retaining washer.

It works best with a rubber washer replacing the star washer. I have done about 30 conversions.
