I'm looking to gift a Snap On ratchet to a friend, and would like it in a decent case or tray. It appears that Snap On sells most of their ratchets loose, but their website doesn't specify.

Can you guys confirm that they don't come with any sort of case or tray? If they don't, do you have any suggestions on something that I can use? I'm thinking about finding a wooden box and cutting some foam to fit the ratchet, but I'm open to other ideas!

Yup the only way you get them in a tray is if you buy them in a set otherwise its just loose hanging from the ceiling of the truck.

No case/tray when you order individual ratchets from the Snap-on Web site either. Kinda irks me too... seems like they could box them like they do the ratcheting screwdrivers. I just received two new(?) ratchets last week. They just toss them into a bag with other items and I have received brand new ratchets that were pretty banged up. (Before somebody says it, I know, they will only get banged up when used. )

If they boxed them it would reduce shipping damage and hopefully reduce the chances that somebody's returned ratchet gets shipped to another customer as brand new.

Can't be a cost issue either as ratcheting screwdrivers ($60-80) come boxed yet ratchets ($80-100+) do not.
