Thanks for all the help on figuring this out I am going to look for a new or slightly used f80 or flf80. Counted the teeth on sk 45170=40 teeth. My old Proto 3/8 has only 24 teeth but smooth very little backdrag.

Which oil have you been lubing your F936 with? A thick oil like Permatex #81950 can smooth it out quite a bit.

I have been using Lucas chain & sprocket lube. It seems to work good it kind of sticks to the parts and is not real runny. I will def try the permatex though.

to be course tooth, i really like the feel of my old snap ons. ive got a few f711, f726 and a couple f730s oiled up they feel like a finer tooth compared to similar age ratchets of other brands. they arent by any means a dual 80 or a 72 or 88 tooth ratchet, but if i need a short 3/8 ratchet, i usually pick up my old hard handle snap on. just feels good.
