I came across a Snap On KRA3027 Roll cab for NZ$100, only thing is it has a problem with the top drawer slide.

It is fitted with the friction slides and has worn the bottom out of the slide channel attached to the roll cab body, so when you pull the drawer over 1/2 way out the drawer drops.

Would this be covered under warranty? If not I'm wondering if it could be converted to roller slides, if this can be done does anyone know which roller slides would fit the box?

Talk to your snap on dealer to see what they say. Since you bought the box 2nd and this is going to be such an expensive warranty, kinda doubt they will cover it.

Your options are to:

a.) Weld up the current runners
b.) Have a runner channel made by a sheetmetal shop, remove the old and weld* the new one on (requires accurate placement)
c.) Convert that drawer to ball bearing which may not be to difficult*, but again accurate placement is critical to prevent binding.

*Are those slide channels/runners welded to the chassis or do they snap in the multitude of cutouts on the inner panel?

Asked my snap on guy, he said slides are covered under the warranty.

This is a different and much more serious problem. While I heard about them replacing a box that this has happened to, it is a much different problem than just a pair of <$10 sheet metal slides.

The drawer needs to be welded or replaced (replaced is more like it). The slides are warrantied for life, However, technically you have to be the original owner. It's really up to your Snap On dealer, if he's cool, he'll get you new ones for free (if they're still made). I doubt they would be able to replace the drawer, you'll probably have to find another box and cannibalize it.

Well the snap on dealer says no warranty, so that means I'll try and fix it.

The channels are welded in place and I'm assuming the slots and cutouts are for ball bearing slides. So perhaps if I drill the spot welds and remove the channels I can just fit a set of roller slides.

1. Since when do you have to be the original owner? 2. How would someone even prove such a thing? 3. Where does it say anything in the warranty about the owner of the box? 4. The warranty stays with the product not the owner. I.E. when somebody buys a car that is 1 year old still gets whatever warranty time that exists on the car. 5. You get me a part number on the slides and Ill see if I can help you out since the giant conglomerate that is Snap-On won't stand by their product.

https://www1.snapon.com/display/termsofsale.nws

section 2, 7th line down

"This warranty only extends to the original Customer and cannot be transferred or assigned."

Little below that

"The following information will be required with the customer’s warranty request: (1) date and proof of purchase, (2) where customer purchased the product"

Car warrantys are different, there have been laws passed to make the warranty be transferable, 99% of products sold with a warranty the warranty is non transferable
