IYO....what's the best deal I could get on this box. I haven't purchased anything off of a snap-on truck before that comes to my place of work, plus we got a new guy that took over this location.

They are a nice cart but be very careful with it as one of my co workers managed to flip his over backwards on accident while pushing it across the shop.

Didn't slow down for the speed bump or what? That must've been an ugly scene...

In my department 2 of my co-workers own that Snap-On cart and 3 of them own Cornwells version of that cart. Both are very nice and very roomy, but the price on the SO is outrageous, plus to me that big ole drawer on the bottom is a waste of space. Cornwell's drawer set-up is nicer, and so is the price. Just my honest opinion.

Think I have to agree with you. The only thing I don't know is the quality difference between the two. I have seen the snap-on carts in person. If quality is similar, the $500 in savings can buy more tools. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

My SO driver tells me he can usually do 10-15% off a box. Don't know if he's got (or is willing to accept) as much of a margin to work with on carts.

I saw one of the 3 drawer Blue Point that I liked a lot. I thought it was a decent cart. Maybe not great, but decent. That said, I ended up making several of my own carts. Cost a lot in materials.

I have the KRSC46 at work and there are some things about it I don't care for. First, there is about a 4 inch area in the back of the two pry bar storage areas without holes so, it's kind of dead space. Secondly, some of the prybar storage holes are too large for anything except a large pry bar handle. I modified fender washers and glued them to the larger holes so, I could store ratchets and smaller screwdrivers in the holes.
There is no folding side shelf available for this unit that I know of so, everything ends up with your tools in the till.
At almost 40 inches wide, and having two fixed and two swivel casters, it's often hard (at least for me) to manuever around cars and in narrow bays. I would prefer 4 swivel casters.
On the plus side, the lid is like 2 inches deep at the base by the hinge. This enables you to attach mechanics time savers type magnetic organizers for sockets and wrenches to the lid. It's a good cart but, at times it may be too big for a cart. It is made in Canada:beer:

The cornwell versions are turds, for $1000 they should be welded together like everybody else's big carts, they are bolt together just like the cheap ones. I worked with a couple guy who bought them and just rattle like crazy going across the shop and the castors are terrible. If your stuck on getting one with full drawers all the way down definitely go with the snap on. If you decide on a conventional style i would go with the mac mb1300.

I've got some pics of mine! Its the similar KRSC41 I got slightly used. Been using it for over a year so far and like it very much. I do auto glass at the shop, started off with a vintage single drawer Snap On cart.

What I like most is the height of the drawers, I can fit a drill that I use most in the top drawer thats around 3 1/2" height. I like the folding top to put in all the sharp tools like hooks, picks, long, short and cold knives. If I did auto service, I'd start off with the KRSC46 and alot more sockets up top. The very bottom drawer I have spare parts and a tote bag for moble jobs.

Hi wellstig1! I really like the MB1300, those can hold 100lbs each drawer slide. The KRSC's hold 75lbs each. I had to replace one slide on the second drawer.

Got my new KRSC46 http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item...group_ID=23865&store=snapon-store&dir=catalog delivered this past Wednesday. I love it!!! It's a very nice and solid cart, rolls easy and smooth....no rattle. I work in a big production center with a lot of ground to cover so that makes a huge difference for me. I was also considering the KRSC31, nice cart also (four of the guys I work with have them) but I wanted more room. Got a rubber mat for the top and a cover for it for $1,500.00 out the door. Not too bad I guess, but in the long run I think it was money well spent. It will save my sanity and knees not having to look for this tool or that tool to make a repair.

Question... does the KRSC46 have anywhere to store prybars inside it like similar roll carts by Matco and Mac Tools?

Is it just me or are tool "carts" quickly becoming tool "boxes"?

I think its more like yesterdays tool box's are becoming today's tool carts. But one does not simple have a wrench drawer with them all tossed in it etc. People now keep there tools much more organized and need so many more tools to work on today's cars and heavy equipment.

I have one of those, but it's advertised (and that's what I bought it for) for the scantool/ attachments storage and a monitor mounted under the lid..

I recently changed careers out of auto repair industry after 25 years, the last 10 years of which before all the tool manufacturers made the tool carts with drawers, and holders. I was modifying and evolving my own mobile workstation as I called towards the end, and still do as I still use it at home and have both generations, as the first generation was just repurposed after being retired and parts refitted to second generation.

If interested I will get photos and post with description.

Yeah I'm not sure I understand it either. I much prefer an actual cart like a KRSC31.

Different strokes for different folks....
The KRSC31 is a very nice cart. Four guys I work with have one and they all like it. We're not auto mechanics but do a good amount of wrenching and cover alot of ground. I wanted something with more room so in six months to a year, I won't be saying....man, I should've gotten something bigger. So far I love it

Bring up and old thread, does anyone with a flip top cart wish the top was fixed and stronger so it could be used as a work surface? I have been thinking about a Snap on cart with a flip lid but I am thinking I will be placing tools just on the lid.

I've had both and I went back to the flip lid. The deep storage on top offered by the lid vs fixed was more worth it to me.

I am getting ready to buy a new cart. Snap-on it has the sliding top and a large drawer under it and then 4 smaller drawers under that. Picture attached anyone know the snap-on number for it?

I believe that is considered a diagnostic work center, as the deep drawer is for a printer. I couldn't find it on the site, but I know I've seen that before.
