The S80 which would have been the First Series of Dual 80 in 1/2" form, was replaced with the S80A which flipped the Cover bolts threads because there where issues with the screws working themselves loose over time. I know some people have resolved the issue with Loctite and others have said the dealers will swap the old series for a New one.. YMMV

Yep to all three statements.

Keep blue loctite around for the screws and keep an eye on them.

If a continued issue, warranty for an S80A.

Aside from the cover plate screw issue a Very capable ratchet.

recently purchased sl80 to try the dual 80 , having used a trusty sk 1/2 " long handle for 10 years. The SK, always came through for tuff 1/2 " requirements, and the SO is doing aok so far. Both are very capable ratchets imho.

I hardly ever use a standard length 1/2 ratchet but I've had the S80 for many years. I did have trouble with a Sl80 and the screws backing out.
