Snap On S832

How are the mechanisms in the old 832 ratchets? There's a local guy with a nos s832 for a decent price that I was considering. When I think of a course tooth ratchet, I always think of a clunky 36t cman, how,do the SO compare?

Clunky like a 36t Craftsman, but no slop or play like the Craftsman. They're brick houses.

I'd skip it. New ratchets are better than the old models.

I have a old 36 tooth so laying next to my dual 80 in my box both bent handle flex head. The only time I make a point to grab the dual 80 is when I'm in a tight spot, otherwise I just use the one I grab.

I still have a Snappy S936 (36 tooth 1/2" dr) ratchet and I really like it. I find I don't often have the need for a finer tooth when dealing with 1/2" dr sizes. I'm assuming an S832 means it's 32 tooth. Probably wouldn't notice a lot of difference between the two.

I delayed getting a dual 80 in 1/2" dr as I used to worry that was too fine a tooth count that it wouldn't be as reliable when breaking loose larger fasteners, but I stumbled onto a pretty good deal on a SHLF80 26" flex soft grip dual 80 that I couldn't pass up and have learned that it's definitely tough enough for the task. I've since added an SH80 to the mix, and it's great, but I still don't ever hesitate to grab that S936.

It may not be the case that the dual 80 1/2" dr ratchets can't take the abuse but they don't give me the same level of confidence I have when using the S936. With that ratchet I know I can't hurt it short of putting a cheater on it, and perhaps not even then. It just feels super solid and I know I can put a foot on something for leverage and put all I've got into it with zero worries it's going to slip and hurt myself. I still don't yet find myself having that same level of confidence with a 1/2" dr dual 80.

My 7110 works just fine. I bought a 7115 on Ebay cheap that looked beat up. I figured I could turn it in if it was. When I got it ,it looked not too bad but had the wrong gear. I bought a 24 tooth kit gear for it and it is a good ratchet. I could have gotten a dual 80 for hardly nothing but would rather spend some money on the 7115. And it feels good in my hand.
