I have resisted the snap-on bug so far, but had my eye on a snap-on 5 piece screw driver set with blue handles. They didn't seem like anything special to me. Same old style hard handles that you see in orange, red, black, ect.... all the time.

Most of my bike tools, or the good ones are in blue, so I was keeping an eye on these things. It would be a nice addition to the tool chest. My bike specific tools are all set.

I literally freaked when I saw these things go for $180 on ebay. About $75 was my limit, even for snap-on. What was so special about the these screw drivers to go for almost $35 a piece?

Did they make a lot of this snap-on stuff with blue handles?

What do these things go for new?

it seems there is becoming a premium for the older hard handled tools, now that they are basibally pushing the ugly imo Instinct handles

I assume your bike tools are Park. They make screwdrivers, too, I think. They're probably just as good as SO, if you really want to keep the blue theme. I don't have any Park screwdrivers, though, so I can't say exactly how good they are.

On another topic, SO makes cool T-handle hex wrenches and the metric ones are blue - just what you need!

The Park screwdrivers are kind of lame. I'm only willing to spend so much on a set of screw drivers, just keep looking. Thats half the fun. I will look into the hex wrenches.

I'm not sure about the screwdrivers, but the blue handle ratchets are rare and bring in some seriously insane bids. As I remember though, they didn't make a whole lot of blue handle screwdrivers either. I prefer the old black handles myself.

If you want bright blue screwdrivers, you always get the Cornwell branded Witte screwdrivers; that is if you don't mind holes in the handles. :p

Or, you could get the screwdrivers you like, and dip them in Plastidip blue. I don't know how that would hold up for the long term since the handles are subject to a torque in use compared to my pliers handles which just get squeezed. But the stuff does work well otherwise.

They are lame, I think. I would never buy them; even ********* bike mechanics probably don't use them. I see more Craftsman than anything else in bike repair shops, at least for non bike-specific tools.

That's an interesting lookup stuff on the web challenge..color coordinated tools.

I think that Hazet makes (mostly) blue screwdrivers. PB Baumann has bright blue handled picks and blue file handles.

Wiha has a blue screwdriver set, too. But they have relatively soft handles if you care about that sort of thing.

I really like the SO stuff, but the screwdrivers seem really lame. I purchased a SK set that I really like. They have a hex under the handle so you can even put a wrench on it, but they are green so of no help to you.
FWIW I bought the entire SO set of T handle wrenches (and some extras in my fav sizes :) ) I need them for my airplane stuff and they do rock. I have the ball ends and standard ends inch and metric and the T handle ones with the wrench on the handle for extra leverage. (Inch sizes are RED)
