I am picking these up today a craftsman top box and snap-on bottom box. At first he said the snap-on box had friction slides but now he is telling me it has ball bearing slides so we will see! I am getting both of these for $120 which is a steal. I plan on cleaning them up and making some money off them. But with my luck after i clean them i will want to keep them :lol:

Picking them up at about 7:00 tonight. You much you think the snap-on box is worth after a little elbow grease and some cleaning?

Yeah i think i just got lucky the seller has them under general stuff and not tools and he just listed them as tool chest not snap-on on the title! You have to go to the ad to actually see it say snap-on and even then the emblem is missing so you can't see by the pics!

For a resale, I'll say you did okay. For a personal use you got a You **** price.

Location is everything, in VA there is not a lot of money to be made there. You can could probably double your money, which is a good return, but there will be a lot of hours in cleaning/restoring and selling. The craftsman top is a bout worthless. There are probably seven of them that cycle through craigslist for $25. They never sell. The bottom is $200-$300 depending on how nice you can make it look.

I just got home and it is dark out so pics will come in the morning! I couldn't find the snap-on stamp on the body that i could see but it definitely looks like a snap-on! The body is in great shape but what he didn't tell me is that on a couple of the bottom drawers the slides are bad maybe they were just off track but couldn't tell in the dark but they were not ball bearing they are friction slides. I know i can make money if i sell it once i get the drawers fix!

I think once i get the snap-on drawers fixed, the box cleaned, and get a new emblem i can easily get $300 plus in my area. The craftsman box is missing the handles and is pretty beat up i don't think i can get much more then $50 for it!

If that's your first SnapOn box ever . . . . AND . . . you put lots of effort prepping, cleaning, & painting the Snappy box . . . then I say keep it.

Sell the CMan box for $50 like you say, then you can say you only paid $70 for Snappy !! :D

With your effort for that picture . . . you earned it . . . YOU **** !! :thumbup:

Wow you ****! I've been keeping an eye out for a box like that, I've got a Mac 33" top box and need something at least that wide to park it on. I've seen a couple pop up but they are always either too far or they get snatched up before I get a shot at them.

In the middle of taking them out of my truck it starting pouring rain real bad and now i am soaking wet! They are ball bearing slides on the snap-on chest so that is a plus but it looks like i might need to contact snap-on to get some replacement slides but not sure yet. The craftsman box he removed the handles and welded some steel on it to attach it to his truck so that might really limit the market when i sell it.

I am getting pretty pissed now these boxes are no way like the guy described i knew i should of came in the day instead of at night. The craftsman box in in rough shape lot's of dings and the bottom three drawers the slides are bad. These are going to turn in to a more headache then there worth that is why the guy probably got rid of them he wanted to unload his problem onto someone else!

I've had that problem a lot when I go to look at classic cars mostly...the seller always indicates "surface rust", which turns out to be "holes so large you can fit your head through them" (mostly New Orleans, even worse post Katrina). So I do have a rule to never look at a car after dark, for obvious reasons...even though I've gotten pretty good at playing that game.

But this, being a tool box, is a little different story. Did you just hand the guy cash and throw them in the truck? Seems like a two minute inspection with a flashlight or the headlights of your new truck would have revealed these problems.
