snap on screw driver question

if the blade spins inside the handle while trying to turn a screw, is that a valid warranty replacement for a handle on a snap on screwdriver?

I'd say so.. you can't properly apply torque to a fastener if the grip spins. The tangs on the blade are designed to hold the blade in place so that doesn't happen. Certainly a warranty issue.

As far as I know, snap on does not warranty handles. Though, if you dealer is cool he will just replace the handle and not charge you.

I don't see how that's possible; there's wings on the shank to keep that very same thing from happening.

we take the whole tool and send it in. you get a new one and i get credit for the whole thing.

How in the world did you manage to do that using the driver in a legit manner?

if the blade has been replaced a few times the handle will eventually spin. I try to put the blade back the way the old one was positioned in the handle

yep the blade has been replaced at least 2 times.

i was trying to get off a center cap on a 96 f150 with the 3 flat head screws holding it on.


are older screwdrivers also within warranty on this subject too? i don't have any yet but i imagine it might happen some day

what about the hard handle screwdrivers? the ones that are 3 and 4 sided?

i still can't believe my dealer rejected the crumbling screwdrivers. his excuse was "back when they sold those the warranty applied only to the original owner but nowadays nobody really knows who that might be. for being as old as they are they have got their lifes worth of use out of them. i cannot do anything for you other then order new handles but that will cost almost as much as a set"

Why dont you just send your stuff into Snap-on.

the warranty does actually apply to the original owner as stated in the front of the book, but there are only a handful of dealers that live up to that.
the cornwell man here definitely goes by that and you must have a receipt or no warranty.......
