Does anyone know why Snap-On screwdrivers do not have ID symbols on the bottom of Pozidrive Screwdrivers?

If you look at the pics of mine you will see a flat blade, Philips and then a Pozidrive. There is no graphic to indicate what the Pozidrive is. Is this because Pozidrive is not used in the USA, or is it a UK thing?

I've come across a couple pozidrive fasteners here in the states. My guess would be so they don't get mixed up with standard Phillips because the symbols would look very similar at a quick glance.

I kind of thought that too, but was expecting POZI or something similar on the bottom.

Mainly because it didn't really bother me, I was just curious and thought that due to the fact there are a lot of tool guys on here someone might know. No offense intended and I didn't mean to ask a stupid question. I am in the UK and presumed most guys on here are in the USA and would know more about USA made tools and fittings, sorry!

I come across pozidriv fasteners all the time, but ONLY on imported stuff. I've never encountered a domestic pozidriv screw.

My guess is that SnapOn never bothered with making the silkscreen for the uncommon fastener types. Possibly because it's not all that common here, and possibly because it might cause confusion among American users with Philips.

My Wera pozidriv screwdriver has the pozidriv symbol on it, but in Europe, where I bought it, the symbol is pretty commonly recognized.

I don't have any Snap-on screwdrivers to comment directly. I use Williams USA screwdrivers which aren't marked from the factory. It seems like Snap-on might be trying to limit the number of screwdriver handle variations. I looked at a couple other Snap-on pictures online and it looks like they don't differentiate the end caps for multiple screwdrivers of the same type either, like P1, P2, and P3 for Phillips drivers. Most other brands that mark end cap will differentiate each tip. It might have to do with how Snap-on warranties their screwdrivers by giving you new shafts as needed or replacing the handles as needed. Having more generically marked end caps minimizes the selection of spare handles a tool truck would need to have on hand. The USA only mark is probably the handle used for all the lower production screwdriver tip styles. That's my guess.

They do have torx, p, and slotted marked OK, if only as a class, so seems its not crazy idea to keep more obscure stuff unmarked (since unmarked simply signs as =>other than a specificly marked class). Seems using a sharpie to mark some 'PZ' initials would work as a field if you want pz1/pz2, or affirmative markings etc.

I replace a lot of pozi-drive bits and shafts under warranty.

Sharpie usually only lasts for about 10 minutes worth of palm spinning on the end of any of my screwdrivers before it's completely rubbed off. Now I engrave the sizes of everything into the cap with a Dremel tool and then fill in the engraving grooves with black Sharpie if the handle is light colored, or with white paint pen if the handle cap is dark colored. It works great, lasts for years instead of minutes, and it can even handle some light hammering without issue. I actually prefer doing my own markings over them being there from the factory. That way I can mark everything consistently and in a way that I find useful no matter what the tool brand is.

That's a good idea. Do you work out of those buckets? If so, what do you work on?

I see what you mean. I have heated up some hard stamps and just put POZI on the bottom. The older 1970's hard handles used to have it written on the sides as per pic. Ithink these were the best screwdrivers ever made. These were both bought in 1971 and are still in perfect condition, bar the logo fading a bit on my favourite, go to driver!

Yep this! I really liked this forum a source of information, chat and to make some buddies to chat about tools together. However I now know that this forum is unfortunetely full of people who are very hostile to new members and un-welcoming.
