Certain items that are discontinued and in high demand, bring crazy prices on ebay! Funny thing is, those Williams clones are really pretty cheap; for the ******** Snapon fans, its gotta say "Snapon" on the handle!

I do not agree with the price but if it says snap on then the warranty will be no big deal, apposed to williams.

What is the Willams warranty experience like? For example, if you have a screwdriver shaft that needs replaced; do they swap out the whole thing or replace the shaft like on the Snapon truck? I would assume you take them back to your industrial tool dealer? Interested in peoples experiences!

I was wondering that same thing myself. I don't see any reason why the SO dealer couldn't change out a shank on a Williams screwdriver considering they're exactly the same except for the white embossing.

My thought, you didn't pay for the snap on warranty, so why should snapon warranty it? I always hear that the high prices for snapon are because of the warranty, and because the driver comes to you. Well with williams, you didn't pay for these two things, thus a cheaper price.

Probably on a truck/dealer basis, the better ones would probably do it for their better customers..

Tool supply stores like production tool supply carry those screwdrivers and you would have to go there.

I think my snap-on guy would warranty them. A bunch of guys wanted to get some of the tubular handle wrenches snap-on used to sell, but now only williams does. He said he could sell us those, so I am sure he could sell/warranty the screwdrivers as well.

Why not? When you think about it, why not?

The replacement shanks for the previous SO ergo hard plastic handles will be the same shanks for the current Williams ergo hard plastic handles. :wtf:

The same way GM owns Saab, but you don't take your Saab to a Cadillac dealer for warranty work.

Anyway, I'm not arguing either way, just a thought that's all.

They will not warranty it unless you are in very good with the dealer!! I had a euro tools 1/2 ratchet that was stamped eurotools snap on and I had trouble getting it replpaced.

It comes down to will Snap~on supply the driver with a replacement for the bit? Are the shafts in a Snap~on labeled screwdrivers, marked in some way, that is different from the Williams ones?
If it is out of pocket for him, unless your a high profit customer, don't expect it.

Not currently on their website, and when I put the Wright marked ones order in, I was told that since they were supposed to move the factory in December (and it fell through), they have had to sub some of them out, and quantity and quality issues have been happening.

On another post/board, a few people have stated that their Snap~on drivers have been told, they are coming back, just delayed.

There is a large contingent on this board who prefer the earlier hard handles; Williams now makes these earlier sets at a reasonable price. The public at large must feel the same way; the proof seems to be the astronomical prices that sets are fetching on ebay!

Well, overall i prefer my last-gen hard handles (look at my toolbox thread, and you'll see just how much i like them.) but the new Instinct handles are VERY comfortable to use. I find they do fit my hand really well, and they let you grip well too. If they were all hard grip and had no rubbery bit i'd probably own a few. I may buy one or two to see if i'd like using them every day, but i have no plans to replace any of my older ones with Instinct handles.

Like i said above, had i not got such a deal on the ones i have now, i would've bought an Instinct set, and doubt i would've looked back.

My Snap-On dealer gets out of production tools quite a bit from other dealers who have been around longer and still have older tools. Right now he is trying to get me a set of the old style red hard handle screwdrivers. Just not for $185. I'll let you know if he is successful.
