I just mentally seem to like the idea of the soft handled screwdrivers. Just like I like the comfort grip for ratchets. I guess I'll never know till I try. Maybe I'll get a set of hard handle torx and my phillips and slotted screwdrivers in soft.

I think a lot of us like the hard handles for the nostalgia feeling. I do like the hats handle ratchets much much more than my soft handle, but in screwdrivers its kind of a wash for me.

I have the Instinct Soft, and the Williams Hard Handles. I'm always grabbing for the SO's, and anybody that says they don't last, are a magnet for dirt and grime, fall apart etc. Has never owned a set and put them to harsh work. Expensive but the best in my opinion.

The Williams are excellent (especially for the money). The actual 'Business end' are indistinguishable from the SO's both in appearance and durability. I much prefer the Instinct handles though, but I wouldn't have bought them just for that if not for the deal I worked out with a SO driver.

Either way, they're both good buys depending on how much you use them.

Same here. I own a set of the Instinct "soft" grip and a set of the Williams hard handles. The Williams are in my on site install tool set. The Snap on Instincts are the most comfortable and the ability to put the most torque on a screw. Also they are NOT your conventional soft grips. They clean up easy and the rubber provides grip. The shanks are EXCATLY the same.I cant tell a difference at all. The Williams represent the best over all value of any screwdrivers on the market. I have a 6pc Phillips and a 6pc slotted. 12 pieces in all for like $80. The equivalent Snap On would be well over $200 probably close to $300 or more

Not to derail, but if you aren't totally committed to Snap-On and like soft handles, the Felo Ergonics are excellent screwdrivers, made in Germany. I have a set of Snap-On soft handles from around 2002 (they don't look like the current ones), Craftsman Pro, a few Wihas and some other miscellaneous screwdrivers and the Felos are by far and away my favorites.
