Saw these today and the owner wants $40 for everything. Does that seem steep for used? They are snap on and this would be my first snap on purchase. What would you offer?

2 sets of Snap On screwdrivers as seen in the pictures.
Like new condition. SDTX40O and SDDX40G
Included are 2 slotted, 2 phillips, and Torx T8, T10, T15, T20.
They are each about 5.5 inches long.

If he's asking $40, I'd offer $30 and at that price or even $35 I'd feel I;d have gotten a good product at a reasonable price IF the tips are all in good condition.

If you feel like gambling, offer $25 but the owner may feel insulted as might I if I was selling them. LOL.

If the owner won;t budge, $40 is about the limit I would pay as I got a SO used wratcheting screw driver in soft grip for $35 from my SO driver.

I think a lot of Snap On tools are overpriced, but the screwdrivers are superior.

If they are like new I"m thinking of offering $30 and going from there. I"m worried that my first Snap On purchase could lead to more though. Up until this point I've been a craftsman, husky, gearwrench and yes Harbor Freight guy. My wallet has enjoyed it. Snap On could take that away.

I've seen the threads on here. Today it's screwdrivers and tomorrow I have every ratchet made and doubles to go with them. It could get really bad! lol

Others no doubt feel differently, but I wouldn't worry about that. I haven't found that one Snap On tool is a gateway tool. I wanted to see for myself if Snap On was worth it, and bought a spark plug socket, two breaker bars, and a hex key.

They're quality tools, no doubt, but I don't see the fascination or the inherent tool quality that justifies such a premium. Then again, it seems that ratchets, screwdrivers, and flare nut wrenches are where Snap On really outshines the competition, so I still might not have had my first real taste. :dunno:

I like the Snap On screw drivers, but I actually prefer the Whitte line/Matco branded or Wera screw drivers myself. Granted, screw drivers really seem to be more about the personal preference of the handles, and everyone is different.

As for the OP, I'd readily pay $40 for that deal, if they're in like-new condition.

I might just offer money for the slotted and philips as I rarely use torx and have a craftsman set of those already. Thanks for all the replies!
