Snap On - Size Stamping Font Changed?

I've picked up a few 2012 date coded SAE tools and noticed the font used for the size stamping has changed. First pic shows a 2011 socket on the left and 2012 on the right. Second pic shows a 2009 FD+ wrench and a 2012.

Edit: I didn't realize the stylized '1' was always used on the 1" wrench, a quick ebay search proved it to me. However patent info has been removed.

It seems to me the new style looks to small to really be legible if filled with oil grease ect. but what do I know.

I think they might be changing their tooling around. they seem to practice this on their impact sockets frequently, more so then the chrome sockets. I think there have been like 5 changes to the impact sockets in the last 10 years

They just got done changing their font to a larger bolded style on impact sockets, it seems strange they'd make it smaller on the chrome.
