What can I do with 20 pairs of Snap On slides? SO was nice enough to send me a full complement of slides for my new-to-me KRL1003, and now I have slides that need to go somewhere. Trying to think of a project to make use of them, but even if I do that, I doubt I'd be able to use all 20 sets. Hate to just toss them in the metal recycle pile...ideas?

Sell them
Give them to another member
Build a plywood cabinet with drawers to hold nuts and bolts
Replace the slides in the kitchen

I would have no problem storing them in a box and keeping them in the garage forever. Those slides may not be available 20 years from now.

What slides do you need? I have a bunch of the KR1000 type that I don't need.

I have no immediate needs. I buy and sell used boxes and tools and have no problem stocking stuff I might need down the road if the price is right. If Snappy is sending out new slides real easy, the price on used goes down. If you have something to sell, pm me with a price and I will say yes or no.

The new ones are on the box. The ones I need to do something with are the old ones. Just wasn't sure there was a market for old slides, but apparently there is.

DAMMN!! I spent like £500 on a full set of new slides for my KRL stack earlier this year after Snap On wouldn't warranty them. :(
I would have bought them from you (assuming you would have shipped them of course)

All right, here comes the ethics police. IMHO it's things like this (selling the used, warrantied slides) after snap on has sent you replacements is what slowly kills it for other people, especially on the used route. Didn't they tell you to pitch the old slides?

Like any customer service related affair, your success or failure is greatly impacted by whom you get in contact with and how their day is going.

This is ethical. He's putting in his new slides and was wondering what to do with the old ones. He's green and wants to reuse them for another project and was soliciting ideas. He prefers not to throw them in the trash if possible.

I think the ethics argument comes from SELLING old ones and profiting. I don't much care, but karma suggests if the new ones were given to you, perhaps pass on the old ones free. Might even be nice to pay shipping to at least one person since Snappy picked up the shipping to you.

Otherwise I agree, I'm shocked by the amount of metal that goes to the landfill. Steel is the #1 recycled and recyclABLE item, and can be recycled literally infinitely. As someone "in the industry" I save all scrap and do a couple scrap runs each year, plus I pick up cans if I'm walking by them in a parking lot. I'm already there, no reason to not pause for 1 second and pick it up.

yup. I just called today and I have 4 pairs coming. gotta be careful how you answer about 8 questions, I wasn't asked if I was original owner, but was asked if I got it from a tool truck, if I'd had it a long time, etc. the woman was real nice on the phone.
I didn't get greedy, she asked me how many pairs I was needing, I only asked for 3 pairs plus the big bottom drawer slide set. Most of mine cleaned up in the Safety Kleen tank quite nicely, besides the years of grit and what ever the PO tried to spray into them coming out, I had chunks of broken detent plastic fall out of a handful of slides.
I have 1 pair that the rail itself that holds the ball bearings being bent/peeled,
that set for sure is junk, and I have 2 pairs that are still a bit stiff sliding after cleaning the snot out of them...

I have a KR562F brought new, the bottom ball bearing sliders have had it any idea if these are still available from S/O? By the way I'm in England, never seen or heard of another KR562 over here. Cheers
