one of those fancy chess sets from a pawn shop on ebay.

Well this pawn shop seems to have expanded it's horizons above pawns to include a few knights, bishops, and a king and queen. Someone's bound to get rooked on this deal.

I would have liked to see the board mounted on top of a large flat cabinet the same size as the board with a drawer opening on opposite sides for each colour. All one piece.

The only thing that ruins for me is the fact that the person selling it
can't even set the board up correctly. They have got the Knights
and Bishops the wrong way round... I don't know why but this
really bugs me... :willy_nil

I think that this was a reward from a year long sales contest amongst Snap On dealers. It was made by Drueke in Ludington, Michigan. They make some very nice products and have been around a long time.

If they caught me at the right time, I'd HAPPILY shell out $200-300 for such a bad-*** set. Never is the "right" time though, especially with kids.

There was one for sale here a year or two ago that was NIB and IIRC, it went for around $500.

The last one I had I sold last year at Christmas time. I put it up for 1K OBO and had emails instantly to end the sale. Bottom line, sold it for 1225 and gave a screwdriver set as well with it. :lol_hitti
