I have just been informed of a pretty big discount on Snap on 1/2" drive deep impact socket sets.

SAE 3/8"-1 9/16" $400
Metric 10MM-36MM $400

I'm tempted to go for both but my Genius set has been holding up pretty good for the last 5 years with only a few broken sockets. What do you guys think? This is for pro use of course.

No I didn't see it in the flier. My dealer said he stocked up on several sets and now he's selling them. Ask your dealer or check the website.

Just wondering who is your dealer, there was a guy Ryan Prior who was in rexdale and he is no longer with the company, havent met the new guy yet

I personally would save my money, 800 for 2 sets is quite a bit

Especially with all of the complaints I have heard people make about SO's impact sockets. So many other options that are better and cheaper in the impact socket realm.

Although I have Snappy impact sockets (got two sets for half price, they were NIB), you really don't need that high quality for impact sockets. Hell I have a couple sets of harbor freight sockets that have held up rather well.

i have one of the SO 1/2" drive 10-24 deep metric sets, brandy new but i got it for a hair under $200 after someone else ordered it but didnt buy it and the driver just wanted to get rid of it. they are pretty nice looking but i dont think i could justify spending the full $385 price tag otherwise. to get to the bigger sizes, i picked up one of the 20-36 Sunex kits for like $80, and i dont think i'll be having any issues with the quality of those and im still way under a Snap on only set ,plus they are cheap enough i wont cringe if i end up having to use one of the Sunex's for a bushing press or something.

That's not a bad price. My dealer had a similar deal a couple years ago, but I passed on it as I could not justify the price at the time. I ended up buy the 26pc Sunex set for under 130 and have been using them daily with no issues.

If you have the extra money I say go for it.

I like all my snapon impact sockets; @ $800 I think that is a good candidate for finding them used. Check ebay; you might just score them for even less then that deal! :)

Considering that you push HF tools every chance you get, you probably never will.

Its not too terrible for truck brand sockets considering it includes the axle nut sizes that most people end up getting separately. I figure those 6 sockets are worth $80-$100 street value alone so its basically 10-29 for $300. I think I paid $240 for my Proto set which was a similar range so not a terrible deal at all.

Work on all makes and models, you'll use them all enough to justify it. At $800+ its insane, $400 though, not bad. Plus a nice range of sockets is handy when you're trying to press out bushings and bearings and don't have the proper size bushing presses.

Especially with all of the complaints I have heard people make about SO's impact sockets.

They're a on the soft side.
