snap-on socket fitment on other brand extensions

I just recently purchased some wobble extensions (3/8 and 1/4) from gearwrench. so far a I really like them and have been using the hell out of them. the price was excellent too. the only problem I have is that my snap-on sockets don't fit will on them. they work great in wobble mode, but when you push them all the way down to lock them in fixed mode they don't sit well. my silver eagle sockets sit perfectly and tightly when locked down in fixed mode.

my question is this. are my gearwrench extensions defective or do snap-on sockets work best with snap-on extensions? im thinking of upgrading my silver eagle sockets to snap-on sometime in the future and I really don't want to have to spend a few hundred dollars to buy the extensions too.

Are the extension you bought true wobble plus as SO calls their? The wobbles I have seen in general, you can force the socket on farther then normal to give a straight on lock feel, but the extension is not really designed to offer that. What you are probably seeing is the lock ball on the extension is not seating in the correct location of the socket. The variation in manufacturing between SO and Matco is why one works and one doesn't.

yeah the extensions are supposed to be a wobble plus design. I figured it was something like that. thought I was getting off with a great setup with the gearwrench extensions and for the price I guess I am. I haven't tested them with full matco branded sockets, but I bet they would work fine. i suppose i will have to upgrade to the snappy wobble plus extensions eventually when i can afford it. just hard to justify the price they want on the truck.
