After opening a new sealed Snap-On 3/8" shallow chrome socket set, I discovered that the 17mm looked different than the others.
It was missing most of the stamping! :shocking:
There is nothing but one incomplete row of the vertical lines. No "Snap-On". No "17mm".
Is this a common error or am I sitting on a goldmine? How much should I start the ebay listing for?

While on the Snap on truck one day at work I saw a new, still wrapped in plastic 1/2” drive chrome socket set and the 17mm socket had a smooth gray stone lodged in the hex end. Bet it was a Stone from the vibratory stone polisher vat they are put in after being forged and broached. Thought that was a comical and harmless QC fail. It was perfectly finished, it just had a rock in it lol

I've sent parts out of the machine shop that way, haha

Good thing it wasn’t an Icon socket. Then it would be a sign of the terrible quality that Harbor Freight has. Surely Snap On could never have a defect, problematic tool or even a recall.

For a socket set that costs over 150 and made by Americans, each socket should be perfect.

I have one the same way. I bought an entire 1/2” drive set, one in the middle is missing the size and part number. I’ve had it 30 years or better. Hasn’t been a problem yet.
