snap-on socket rails?

I was looking around the SO site tonight and came across socket rails #A267A. They are listed at $2.65 and it seems that they come with the 14 clips and the rail but it seems a little good to be true for $2.65 , my local tool shop sells them for $10 a rail . Just wondering if anyone has bought these and got what is described, thanks ahead of time

price is correct. they used to be made in usa but new ones are mexico. quality is still good though

No experience with those but so is often the cheapest for items like that. Pliers rack is one particular item that comes to mind

I have some and they are real sturdy. They price them that way because they're not really trying to make alotta money off them. The same with their SPP744 special service tool. It's very inexpensive but built out of some serious blue tempered spring steel.

I know what you mean, when I what looking for socket rails I was surprised to realize that the Snap-On rails where actually less expensive than the Craftsman metal rails.

I bought a few sets of rails in different sizes and a few bags of extra clips. They're nothing special but they're sturdy and work well.

They're not as good as they were but they're still better then just about all the rest. Unlike the other brands, they actually hold sockets!!

With free shipping they're truly a bargain.

i have SO metal rails that are over 25 years old, and still hold a socket tight.

i gave away all the CM metal rails i had...

I use the SO socket rails for my 3/4" drive impact sockets--use the shorter rails due to weight--a 25 count package of 3/4" clips is less than $4! Recently SO has been showing these made in USA again on the website--I have 30 year old ones made in USA and some made in Mexico can't tell any difference in quality.

I was looking on the Canadian site and the 1/4 and 3/8 socket rails are a $1.65 a piece and the 1/2 rails are $2.15 or something like that so I will be buying quite a few of them, I hate having my sockets scattered in a drawer. Thanks guys

I have a few of these rails in 1/4,3/8,1/2..love them even more than Ernst. Very sturdy and can easily cut short if its too long for some reason.(wouldn't fit in my truck toolbox lol)

So snappy sells the 3/4 clips but what about blank rails? Can someone point me in the.right direction or know a p /n? All the ones I see come with clips but not the 3/4 drive size

After making the post about the 3/4" drive clips/rails , I went to the SO website and noticed they don't offer the rails seperately anymore like they did for years---although you can get individual bags of the clips in the four sizes. The only choice is to buy the rails in the length you want and buy a 3/4" bag of clips and you'll be left with extra clips--they are pretty cheap! Also SO no longer makes the rails in 23" and 32" lengths.

Yea, I didn't know 3/4" rails existed either. I was planning on making some socket trays for them but I think I'll go with rails now.

well im wondering seeing as long rails without clips rails arnt avialable thru SnapOn will the 3/4" clips fit other rails (cman, ??, hf, someone else) or a easy to source size flat stock? does anyone know?

*Im traveling on business thru march so i cant 'check for myself' ...but i can order and have them shipped to my friends house

Like I mentioned in post#10 the last rails I bought off the truck 2 to 3 years ago were made in Mexico and the dimensions matched up perfectly to the old USA ones bought over the years. The rails were always made to accept the clips from all four drive sizes. Don't know when they started pre-loading clips of certain drive sizes on specific length rails but it must have been recently. Here is a catalog page from 30 years ago you can see the clips and rails were sold separately, the part #s for the rails have stayed the same except now an "A" has been added as a suffix--the part # of the clips has stayed the same. Unless they have changed the design which I doubt--the rails accept all size clips.
